Morning had arrived and as the sun rose in the east, one from the city of Val Chevin could see five ships approach. One of them was said to belong to the Emperor himself, whereas the others were only a part as an escort, all armed and equipped with guards, servants, weapons and more. Within the city shops were closing for the day, and as the sound of bells rung throughout the area, telling of the royal arrival, the crowd of people gathered at the docks. The high ranked nobles of the city stood in front; the Marquis and his entire family, along with his other trusted friends and staff who eagerly looked forward to meet the visitors, some more than others.
For days now the visit had been expected and they all new the Emperor came from the recent Grand Tourney which had been held in Cumberland, but it was also rumored that this year’s Champion was coming along as well, a person who quickly had grown famous after his great win, who through most of Orlais had now become an icon.
A great feast had been prepared in the honour of the guests, but for some reason suspicion had risen around it. Outside the city walls, in the forest not far away, a military camp had been set up, and for reasons unknown the military activity had increased in the city. Some believed a war was brewing, but others dismissed the thought and even to those who cared to ask, the Marquis of Val Chevin had firmly denied the accusations and claimed the reason behind it was only because of a needed military exercise.
Overlooking the city from the ship, Emperor Gespard stood proud with his guards and servants as he awaited the ship to dock. The sails were raised and the oars were pulled out to bring them carefully in position, once it was done a wooden ramp were set up, linking the ship to the shipyard. In the new clothes of black and white, Emperor Gespard remained quiet as he stood next to Orlais`s new champion; David, and with a slight smirk on his face, Gespard thought about everything that soon were about to happen before he spoke. “Let’s go ashore; this celebration is also for you.” Gespard said to David and then stepped forward, waving his hand in a polite gesture before he moved down the gangplank to meet the Marquis and the rest.

From the east, the sun scorched the docks of Val Chevin. The crowd that usually inhabited the docks was significantly larger than usual, and was not compiled of simply peasants. No, this crowd was not bustling with it's workers. The group varied from gossipy nobles to curious peasants. The emperor himself had arranged a feast for the champion of the Grand Tournament. Everyone in Orlais wanted to see the champion, David Bouvier de Jader. Nobles from various parts of Orlais had poured into Val Chevin to get a glimpse of the man who conquered the tournament. The chance to meet the esteemed warrior. Then they could brag for weeks about how they knew the champion of Orlais. What a feat that would prove to be for their social status.
One noble in particular, however, was not there just for the glamor. A young and attractive woman stood in the loud army of nobles close to the front of the crowd. She had dark brown hair that was a braid wrapped back into a bun. Dainty earrings dangled from her ears and she wore a dark blue dress that clearly cost a shiny penny. She stared at the approaching ship solemnly, although one hand rubbed the other arm nervously. She was Cecille Allard de Val Royeaux, a somewhat arrogant young woman who found herself in the possession of a small fortune due to the untimely deaths of her parents. The latest gossip in Val Royeaux was that she was seen walking with a soldier to a pub. The gossip had been rather low key at first. That was, until he won the tournament.
Cecille peered past the few people close to the Marquis that stood in front of her. She had never met the man herself, but her parents had introduced her to a relative of his many years ago, which had paid off in getting her the slightest bit closer to the front to see David. Maybe she'd even be able to meet the emperor. As much as she wanted to see David, she had to keep her priorities in check. That was the whole point of David winning the tournament. To get closer to the emperor's throat. She crossed her arms over her stomach before letting out a soft "hmm". The ship was linked to the shipyard and the emperor walked forward, David quickly following. A small smile spread on Cecille's face. She was proud of David. He had won the tournament. Who knew how many others had competed against him. He had beaten the odds and the chances of their uprising had increased significantly.
Cecille nudged forward slowly. She wanted to be close so that she would be one of the first David saw. Cecille knew she had to contain her composure. There could be no signs that they knew each other, especially in the presence of the emperor. She was as close to the front as she would get. She stood quietly, letting out a small breath before anticipating the two men.

David couldn't believe the sight when he first reached the deck. What a crowd. It was huge, spanning the entire docks. People of all stripes, nobility, commoner, fishermen, beggars, bankers. It didn't matter at that point. They were all there in the crowd, eager to see the emperor arrive to their city. Well, they wanted to see himself too, but David was far too humble to honestly admit that.
Wearing the dark, finely crafted black armor that had been given to him by his sponsors for the competition (Nathaniel had a thing for black evidently. While usually that would have made the suit of armor hotter, the steel was finely crafted enough and well ventilated. You could barely feel the heat any more than he would have in his old suit of armor, and the added mobility of the joints was a plus. Also, while still relatively new, the tourney had given him ample ability to break in the armor in, meaning it was almost a second skin.
The black armor with the light blue infantry officer's sash glistened in the sunlight, as David followed Gespard down the ramp toward the waiting nobility. The marquis greeted David warmly, a greeting David was not used to in the slightest concerning nobility. Following the group towards a small group of horses, he mounted one and followed into the crowd.
So many people. Guards pushed the crowd aside, leaving a hole large enough for roughly 4 horses to ride side-by-side. Scanning the crowd, trying to take it all in, (so many colors... The nobles really did dress like circus clowns) he noticed a beautiful brunette woman in the front wearing a dark blue dress. It didn't take long for him to recognize her. Cecille. Despite supposing to act like they did not know each other, he really could not help himself. He grinned wildly and winked, and then waved towards the crowd. The crowd seemed to like it, for the cheering intensified. So this is what it felt like... To be a hero?

“Bonjour Emperor and Champion, welcome to Val Chevin, I hope you had a pleasant trip coming here”. The Marquis spoke loud enough for those around to hear and shook the Emperor`s hands, kissing his cheek in ordinary fashion before introducing him to the rest of the family and the other high ranked nobles. Gaspard replied in a proper manner while his gaze ventured across the many interesting people dressed in their own marvelous fashion, certainly gripping his attention. The wife and daughters of the Marquis were beautiful and he used his charm on them, making them blush and laugh. The Marquis seemed a bit surprised, but allowed it. If one of his daughters could catch the Emperor`s attention it could lead to marriage, and perhaps elevate the status of his house. However what the Marquis didn`t seem to notice, was Gespard`s past with his wife.
Once the ceremony of introduction was over, Gespard took the moment to walk further down the street, toward the horses which were brought up by servants and chevaliers. The Elven servant which Gespard had brought along on his journey had unfortunately displeased him and therefor was no longer by his side, rumours among the crew told that the elf had been executed and thrown over the ship before their arrival and many of them seemed to know Gespard would soon be looking for another victim as replacement.
When reaching the horses, Emperor Gespard gracefully mounted his white destrier without help, wanting to show the people what a fine man he was who could do things on his own, unlike other nobles. Once he sat upon the saddle with his head held high, he took the reins of the horse and with a slight flick and kick he ordered it forward. The crowd cheered of joy to see the Emperor and his Champion ride side by side, leaves flowers came flying down through the air and banners which hung close to the walls wavered in the wind. It was a marvelous sight one to remember.
Seeing how unused to the situation David was made Gespard smile as he looked at him wave, the young man had no idea what he was letting himself into, and it would not be long before his time of happiness would be nothing more than blood and dust. Gespard had great plans for him, he would use David for us own need and when there would be no more use of him he would be killed without a trace to his murderers.
“Are you enjoying it David?” Gespard asked firm and cold, giving him a glance of despise before turning to wave at the people some more. It was great to see so many people gathered, especially the women who tried to reach out to them, although it created a fuss when maintaining security, as it always did. Gespard knew he still had enemies among the people and he hated it, yet he sought to deal with the problem. Already had he executed and replaced most of those sworn to the previous Empress, like the Marquis of Val Chevin, but he knew there would always be haters and if the truth about Celene`s survival came out, things could turn dire. Lucky for him he already had his best spies and assassins working on the situation, who hopefully soon would bring news of her death.
While riding through the street in a parade of celebration and glory, Gespard and David rode in front, whereas the other nobles and servants followed behind and the guards secured them. Not after long they arrived the palace of the Marquis, where a banquet had been prepared and where they would spend their night.

He winked at her. Cecille smiled, clapping and cheering with the rest of the crowd. He had quite the inspiring presence and that would be a wonderful skill to have. If he can get a group of people this excited without even having spoken a word, who knew what an empowering speech could do? Charisma can be the deciding factor in a war. Not to mention his charisma could affect both the nobles and the common folk. A noble such as herself would have difficulty inspiring a crowd. No, her kind of charm could only be utilized in private. She slowly turned her gaze to Gespard. He had his own form of charm. Not quite like David's, but certainly not like her own. He was sly and calculating. While David's inspiring charisma would be useful, she hoped her special charm would prove useful at the banquet with some powerful men.
Cecille followed the nobles as they followed the initial group to the palace. Being a noble, Cecille would easily be able to get into the banquet. One could tell from one look at her. The hard part, however, would be getting to Gespard and David. If she was lucky, they wouldn't spend the whole evening together. Charming her way to Gespard would be quite difficult with David looming around him. She didn't want to upset David, but according to the emperor they have never met. That introduced some opportunities to get close to Gespard. She hadn't paid as much as she had for this dress for nothing. Finally, they arrived at the Marquis' palace and the nobles and their servants entered and the excited peasants were shut off from the banquet. The interior was as beautiful as the exterior. The Marquis obviously wished to please Gespard with the beautiful display. He had certainly outdone himself... in her eyes, that is. Gespard clearly held more money than she ever would. His taste could be entirely different.
Cecille glanced around the bustling crowd of nobles. The relative of the Marquis was babbling about something or another that Cecille honestly did not care about. Something about new shoes. She was hunting for David and Gespard. After entering the palace, the entire group dispersed into various places. Cecille frowned. She was hoping to get to them before any kind of speech before they ate. "Since I'm related to the Marquis I can get close to the emperor and the champion! I am so excited." Cecille rose an eyebrow, turning to the Marquis' relative. She smiled, putting her hand on her shoulder. "And because we're friends, you can get me close to, yes?" She said with pleading eyes. The relative waved her hand at Cecille, nodding. "Of course! You have been paying so much attention to my babbling I should at least grant you that, yes?" Cecille smiled and the relative began leading her towards the Marquis' family.

The thunderous cheering from the crowd was so loud that David had hardly heard Gespard's comment at all. However, he did catch it, and looked back at the phony emperor and tried his damnedest to maintain his smile. Maker how he despised this man. Just the way he looked at him, the way he treated the wives of other men, the way he looked down on common men... It made his blood seethe with anger. But there wasn't anything he could do. Today... He had to play the good boy. He had to play the loyal lapdog. It was a thought that, had he had thought of it a few months ago, he might have very well just jumped off the ship headed towards the Capital and drowned. But here he was... Doing just that...
"Aye your grace." He responded with a forced grin. "I'm still amazed this many people came out to see me. Not too long ago I was just a simple man from Jader. All this is a bit overwhelming." He chuckled nervously, hoping the act of humble soldier would play out long enough for Gespard to not suspect anything. Though, in honestly, he probably already did. No matter.
As they reached the palace, David's horse was grabbed by a servant and some men were bringing stairs for him to climb down on. Oh no, not this crap. David laughed and waved his hand, smiling at the servants. "It's all right, I got it." He said as he hopped off his horse. He then handed the servant a silver piece, and the man thanked him happily and pocketed the coin, leading the horse off to the stables with the others. David then looked at the Marquis and tried to remember his social graces... Graces he was never very good at.
"You have a magnificent home sir." David said, in a tone that was pleasant enough, though clearly a bit forced. "Thank you very much for having me over as a guest." He then looked at the emperor as he came off his horse. "Your grace, I have to ask... Did we really have to go through all this trouble for me just winning a tourney?"

David`s answer was by no means any surprising, although it pleased Gespard to know where he had him. It was not unusual for people to tell him lies to stay in his favour and by looking at David`s behavior, the Emperor could tell something was off. The man seemed to accept everything Gespard asked and wished for, but was it all honest? Doubtful, because who would dare to insult a powerful man that could easily have you executed. Sure enough he had the good graces of the people, although how much would they support a single man over an Emperor who could give them so much more. Still, David was a threat and as long he stayed popular, the danger could increase. Something Gespard could not allow to look past, he had to stay in power and remain popular, if someone else came in and stepped on his territory, he would defend it by removing those possible threats.
With a cunning smile Gespard watched David, wondering what he really thought, although quickly choose to focus more on the crowd and the road. Proudly and graciously the Emperor waved to the people and as they came to the palace, servants rushed forth to assist them. They brought stairs to help them dismount and Gespard accepted it, but noticed the champion denied it. The cheers were loud and the people observed from the distance as their Emperor, the Champion and the Marquis, as well his family gathered at the bottom of the steps.
Before turning to walk inside, Gespard waved one last time to the crowd, listening intently to the question David asked. “Oui, this is necessary, this is what the people expect, not just from me, but from you as well. You should learn to appreciate what you have Champion, as long it last. Come.” Gespard answered and began to walk up the stairs toward the entrance of the palace, along with all those who followed. Meanwhile, the Marquis spoke proudly with the Emperor, grateful to be visited by him and the champion. It was of course expected to be greeted by such hospitality, especially after the man had been given title and land not long after Gespard succession, all thanks to the Marquis`s wife of course. Their loyalty belonged to him, and as long they could be trusted, he would keep them in their position, if not, he would end their reign just like the last one.
Stepping into the great hall where the banquet was held they could see a large group of nobles, a magnificent sight to behold, where all stood dressed in suitable fashion for their guests of honour. There they were met with applause and in front of them an open trail allowed them to step further into the center of the room. Side by side, the Emperor and the Marquis walked in first, while behind followed David and Marquis`s wife, along with the rest.
As Gespard and his host; the Marquis, came to the center, the Emperor humbly told them to go silent and once it settled down, he spoke out loud for them all to hear. “My noble subordinates! It is an honour to be greeted with such hospitality here in Val Chevin, to which I am forever grateful. I come to you because I love this city and because I believe we can replenish our wealth here. As you all my know, I have traveled far to gain new alliances and wealth to this mighty Empire, and everyone I have spoken to has agreed to increase our market stock and trade, but that is not all. I have witnessed the annual Grand Tourney in Cumberland and if you haven`t got the news, which I believe you have, I can nonetheless gladly announce to you that our Champion has given us glory and respect throughout Thedas.” He said and paused, allowing them to applause the speech thus far. “Ladies and gentlemen, we stand upon the brink of change. To long have we stood by and watched all opportunities slip away, to long have we relinquished our duties, the duties set by our forefather’s! All because our previous Empress sought to only care about herself and her own affairs, instead of the people, I say no more, never again shall we forget. I swear to you from this day hence forward we will enter a Golden Age, an age where we can be proud and stronger than ever before!” Gespard intensified by rising his voice, to which there was more applause and cheers.
Glasses with wine was then handed out to everyone, and the Marquis took the opportunity to speak as well. “Your grace. I cannot, but humbly thank you for coming here and to share these wonderful news with us. This is more than we could ever ask for, and little as it may be, I grant his Majesty and his fellows my home for as long they wish to stay. You are more than welcome and the people here love you. May the Maker and his prophet Andraste be with you and yours!” The Marquis said with a smile, as he nervously stood by waiting for the Emperor`s response. Gracefully Gespard looked at him and then the people, raising his glass slowly up for all to see. “For Orlais!” Thus the crowd repeated the words together and drank from their glass.
Music and song shortly followed and as soon the people began to mingle, they discussed between themselves what they just had heard and how excited they were to have such high titled guests. Gespard finished his wine and when he reached out to ask for more, he noticed two beautiful women approach. One was a woman he had never seen before; the other was obviously the daughter to the Marquis.

Cecille and Marquis' daughter finally reached the girl's family and took their positions. Cecille wrapped her arms across her chest. Her eyes narrowed. She was so close to Gespard. Just a few heads away and she'd be in his presence. She turned to the Marquis' daughter, who had continued her critical rant on the new shoes that were all the rage throughout Orlais -- apparently it was incredibly difficult to find a pair in pink. Cecille tapped her arm gently in an attempt to draw her attention. She finally ended her rant and looked at Cecille expectantly. Cecille nodded her head towards the emperor with a smile. "Will we be able to meet him soon?" The brunette bombshell inquired almost hurriedly. The young daughter's eyes lit up, and she nodded happily. The young beauty quickly turned to lead Cecille through the rest of her obstacles. She frowned at the back of the Marquis' daughter's head. The poor girl. Just by the way her expression lit up, Cecille could tell she was an often used instrument in the Orlesian game. It was a shame.
Just as they neared the emperor, the Marquis and Gespard moved forward and the crowd was hushed. Cecille cursed under her breath quietly. She quickly pushed some hair behind her ears and glanced around hastily. Gespard was already being flooded with hungry questions. After this 'humble' address to the nobility, no one would be satiated of their desire to further their agenda with their radiant leader. Cecille rolled her eyes at his introduction. Noble subordinates. In Cecille's head, the entire speech was an act of quackery, but that line in particular struck her. As if they had all got up one day and decided to oust the former empress and place him on her throne. Her hand slid to her hip and rested there, delicate fingers tapping in anticipation. Once the speech was over, it was Cecille's turn to shine. While she fully trusted David, she knew his presence would not be a deciding factor in what they had planned. No, the tan temptress needed to use her own talents to take the power and control necessary to topple the serpent. Even if it meant using her tongue in more ways than simple chatting.
Her look of displeasure only intensified as the man's speech continued. As pretty a face he was, she could not stand his arrogance. Just the way he acted as if had been their Maker-blessed emperor for years. She let out a sigh of discontent and shook her head. If she was not able to apply her poker face, the whole plan would be a big screw-up. It was easy. All she had to do was look beautiful and act charming. Both tasks came to the noble lady easily. There was just one problem. David. Would he understand why she was charming the emperor? Surely he'd have to.. but the thought of upsetting David weighed heavily on her. Of course they had not spent much time together, but David looked past her money. He was genuinely attracted to her. The last thing she wanted was to actually upset him. Sadly, she had no choice. His sword could not do all the work. A golden tongue would be a necessity for this serpent.
Finally, the emperor and the Marquis had finished talking. Cecille looked to the daughter, who nodded excitedly. It was time. The people had begun to separate. The Marquis daughter practically charged through those remaining in her path. The emperor was in direct view, and no one was going to stop the duo from confronting him. Once they reached him, they both dipped down in a bow. "Greetings, monsieur. I hope you are doing well?" The Marquis' daughter smiled at him with a serpentine grin. She motioned to Cecille, who rose slightly. "This is Cecille Allard de Val Royeux. She was especially excited to meet you, my lord."
Cecille curtsied. A small, seductive smile curling on her lips. "It's an honest pleasure to meet you, my lord. I have been anticipating your companionship for some time. Ever since you rose to power I've admire your valiance to throw out such a rodent of an empress." She quickly glanced him over, her tongue gliding over her lips ever so lightly in order to keep the well-applied lipstick. "And.. pardon my candid language, but you're also much more attractive up close than from far away."

As the entire pomp and circumstance of this ceremony grew, David found himself more and more uneasy. To say he hated these things was an understatement. Sitting on the dais, he listened to Gespard's speech with a growing sense of anger and frustration with each passing sentence. Subordinates... Alliances.... Our champion... Funny how quickly it was forgotten that David had had no funding or support from the emperor, yet suddenly now he was his man... It took all his willpower to prevent him from gritting his teeth as Gespard began to speak of the empress and change. All he promised was death and wasted lives, constant war. All Gespard was doing was ensuring more and more poor boys would be pumped into the holocaust of war to fuel his desire for power...
When the Marquis began to speak, David forced back the strong urge to vomit. The brown nosing was excessive, even worse than it had been during the coronation ceremony. Good Maker, is this all the nobles were good at? It certainly seemed that way, as for all the pretty language and promises the Marquis made, it appeared he had done little more than explain all the different ways he would bend over and suck Gespard's cock. It wasn't surprising that a feast that had ostensibly been about David's victory would be turned to glorify Gespard.
However, like the good little lap dog he had to pretend to be today, as the toast came David raised his glass and took a swig. And by swig, he downed the entire cup of champagne. Maker... This was misery. And things were about to get much worse.
As he began to eat (he had nearly puked his guts out on the ship. It had been a while since he'd eaten well) he heard a familiar voice. Cecille... Flirting... With... Gespard. A great feeling of disgust filled David's stomach. Suddenly, he didn't feel like eating any more. Not even looking up at the emperor and his company he quietly took his leave from the dais and began to walk into the crowd. Maker damn it all... He should have known better. Cecille... She was a noblewoman, through and through. David was foolish to even think about anything more with her. They hadn't gotten serious, thank the Maker for small miracles..., but still... He had thought her better than that. Clearly, he was wrong.
Walking through the crowd, trying his best to remain unnoticed (worked pretty well, Gespard had taken most of the attention off of him), he stopped only when he found a corner where several of the servants were standing. When one popped to attention, David motioned for him to remain as he was, and simply began to converse pleasantly with the servants. Here, he was happy. After a minute or two of speaking, however, he noticed out of the corner of his eye a specific dark haired woman, one he had not seen in a very long time.
"Maker's breathe..." He muttered. It couldn't be...

The banquet carried on as most celebrations did. Nobility using it as a time to show off their status and for those who wished to earn the favor of those more powerful, it was a time to brown nose as much as possible.
The dark haired beauty was not there for any of these games however. Marjolaine had her own agenda and it circled around the new Champion. David… David Bouvier. When they had first met he was a simple soldier who was suspiciously given an honor that he was not meant to have. However it seemed he had proved his worth and now here he was… the reason for celebration.
Marjolaine watched from the shadows since the celebration started. It was her gift to study people. There was a certain amusement to be had with such a gift. People were quick to hide their true thoughts; everyone played a role and everyone was an actor. So many lies and false flatteries were tossed around in the hall that Marjolaine had to tune them out. Especially when it came to those who were hoping to approach the Emperor.
None of that mattered to Marjolaine, instead she had spent the last several hours concentrating on David. Despite his struggle to present himself with a calm and collected demeanor she could see the turmoil of emotion that ran through him. He tensed when Gespard addressed him and his loss of appetite… it was all very amusing and informative. When the Champion left the table, Marjolaine decided it was time for her to make herself known… to him.
Slowly she moved through the crowd, her graceful steps allowed her to weave in and out of the clusters of partygoers and servants. Tonight Marjolaine was not dressed in the finery that she typically donned. Tonight she played the part that would win her the company of her mark. Her dark green off the shoulder dress was simple, yet more flattering to her curvaceous body than even the most highly dressed noblewoman could flaunt. The long curtain of silky black hair flowed loosely down Marjolaine’s back and even though her intention was not to be noticed, it couldn’t be helped by those she passed. Marjolaine did make sure she was not noticed by Gespard though. It was simple enough, since he was being showered with attention by every woman close enough to him.
David’s expression as her eyes locked onto his was priceless. A demure smile formed on her lips as she closed the distance between them. She nodded greetings to the servants around them before addressing the man himself. “I had to congratulate you. I don’t mean to intrude but the songs I’ve heard of your battles, well you are quite the Champion.” Marjolaine dipped into a small courtesy to emphasis the compliment and give him praise. It was the gesture of a commoner to one that was superior. “It has been some time David. You must be proud to have earned such an honor.” Marjolaine’s sultry voice was softer when speaking with him as were her eyes. This was the Marjolaine that David knew and tonight it was the Marjolaine she would be.

“Allow me to introduce to you, your Majesty, my daughter Viviane Briere.” The Marquis spoke as he noticed his daughter approach the Emperor with another woman, whom together made their formal curtsy in front of them as they stopped. Certainly the Marquis and his family had gained a lot since Gespard came to power, even though most of their wealth was thanks to the Marquis`s wife Aurora they still desired more, and now that the Emperor had sat foot in their home, the Marquis hoped that his daughter maybe could gain his favour and maybe someday become the new Empress of the great Orlesian Empire. It was a wish that many wanted to fulfill and if one could gain the interest of the Emperor, it would benefit not only the woman greatly, but most of all her family.
In great curiosity the Emperor watched the two, and intently he listened to what was said. Just as the Marquis`s daughter had been introduced, Gespard bowed his head kindly forward as he reached out to kiss her hand gently. “Bonjour mademoiselle, oui, I am doing better than ever and these are great times to be Empereur.” Gespard replied to Viviane with a smile, before he turned his attention to her friend by doing the same formal greeting by kissing her hand. Then as the Emperor got a good view of Cecille, his eyes lit up in awe. She was a beauty and much prettier than Viviane could ever be, thus Gespard for a moment became speechless and as she formed the words with her mouth, he could not avoid, but to watch her lips and sweet tongue as she teased him, as he also took the opportunity to scan her body.
“The pleasure is all mine Mademoiselle Allard.” He said as his eyes glanced with passion and curiosity back at hers while he stood up straight, listening to her compliment that followed. “Ah Merci, you are too kind, but if I may say so, you are not any bad-looking yourself. You certainly are a beauty for the eyes, had I known this sooner I would have invited you to the palace long time ago, maybe if we are fortunate, we may yet have such an opportunity, oui?” The Emperor answered as he gave her a look that would have made any other woman jealous, especially Viviane who stood by and watched with her family.
Totally ignoring her and the Marquis, Gespard smiled satisfied at Cecille, wondering what she thought and what she would answer. It was good to know that she sided with him, and that she despised the Empress just as much he did, although none the less he was not entirely sure if she was honest and spoke the truth. For all he knew she could be one of the many who desired his favour, however if she had something to hide he would eventually find out with time, but right now the pleasure of being in such a company made him avoid such thoughts.
While the people mingled around and as the music played and food was served, Gespard did not take notice of what happened around him as his interest were with the women. He did not see where David went off through the crowd and disappeared, nor did he take notice of Marjolaine who entered in the back. Who by Gespard had not been invited, but who had come for her own reasons. Even though his desire was to meet her someday soon, he believed she was still far out of reach and that it would take some time before she showed up, as it was only recent that he had sent word for her to come. Together the two of them had worked in secret and with her help had Gespard managed to be successful in his schemes and plots set against the Empress. Their past was very much linked together; she was his trusted friend and ally, though with the Orlesian game never dying and changing, one could never know what the future would bring.

Cecille perked an eyebrow at Gespard's offer - and the sheer bluntness of said offer. Vivianne was practically begging for the emperor's attention, yet it was Cecille that clearly enraptured the man. Her smirk curled into a pleased grin. She glided her hands down her body seductively in order to 'smooth out her dress'. Cecille had done her duty in but a few words, and this pleased her greatly. The beauty did not even have to say more than a word before she had the snake's interest invested in her curvacious figure. Not only was her job that much easier, but this was also a significant ego boost. Vivianne Briere was in no way ugly. She was a beautiful girl herself. That Cecille would dazzle the emperor so quickly was only a testament that her beauty was not to be trifled with. The emperor was a lover of women. This would be his downfall.
"Thank you, monsieur. I am glad you are able to recognize beauty when you see it. It is an.. affirmation of your conscientious eye. As for your enthralling proposition, I'd love to join you at your palace as soon as you would have me." She tilted her head slightly as her lustful eyes scanned his body. Charming unsuspecting men.. easy. Although she enjoyed the attention it gave her, she had slight angst brewing inside her mind. What would David do if he saw? Surely he would understand her intentions. There would be undeniable anger, yet he would have to realize her intentions were pure. Well, as pure as a rebellion could be. Nevertheless, the dazzling damsel had the emperor virtually sitting like a little puppy at her feet. Not that she could blame him. She was, of course, the ultimate beauty at the feast. His lack of attention on the lovely Vivianne was all the proof she needed.
On the topic of David, where had he gone? Cecille needed to be 'introduced' to the champion. For her plan to work, she needed to flirt with the champion in front of the emperor. What better way to fuel his desire for him than by adding a little jealousy. She glanced around in search of the object of her affections, her lascivious smirk still fixed on her lovely visage. "However, right now we are here to celebrate the glorious champion, yes? Perhaps we can continue our current discussion tonight - in private?" The seductress gave the emperor a charming little smile before looking around in search of David. He was not that hard to miss, considering his fine suit of armor the sponsors had thrown together for him, and boy did he look charming in it. Her smirk turned into a frown. Despite his obvious ensemble, the champion was still difficult to spot amongst all the excited celebrators. She let out a quiet sigh of disappointment. "It seems your champion is rather elusive, yes? I was hoping to introduce myself to one of the two men to bring prestige to our glorious country, yet he has already disappeared into the crowd of spectators." She turned back to Gespard, her glowing smile returning.
"Oh well. His loss, no? I'll just have to deal with even greater company." The enchantress awarded Gespard a delectable wink. "Perhaps we could keep each other company for a duration of the party, monsieur. It'd be good for you to keep a beautiful woman at your side, lest you allow another man to snatch her from your firm grasp, no?" She spared Vivianne a small glance, noticing the rage in the girl's eyes. Cecille simply turned her full attention to Gespard, keeping it tight on him. The lovely maiden truly didn't want to hurt her friend, but that's how the world they lived in worked. Cecille knew she had to use or be used.. and so, she was going to use the emperor.

It was...huge, amazing, gigantic...no, no real words could express this. Due to her father`s big mouth, she had ended up forced to spend a night with the Emperor. And somehow, over the course of said night, he had convinced her to journey with him, to become his page and travel where he went. And so they had traveled, finding his champion, and now they had arrived in the land of Orlais. The grand welcome had been missed, as Gespard had ordered her to get properly dressed. A simple task, but being the page of the very emperor herself, had meant that she would`t be wearing the traditional servant outfit.
Passing by a large mirror hanging in the hallway, Corine stopped to observe said outfit. A high-collared tunic which matched the color of her eyes, with pure white sleeves. A pair of gloves ran from the elbow and down, its brown collar matching the belt she wore around the waist. On her legs, she wore tight-sitting black stockings, and a pair of thigh-high boots, in the same color as the belt and gloves. The emblem of the Orlesian court was plastered on the collar, belt and the back of her tunic. Her silver locket hung around her neck as always, the blue sapphire in the middle of it fitting the color of the tunic. Her brown hair had been tucked into a low ponytail, fringes of her bangs falling loosely over her eyes. Her ears, being half the length of usual elf ears, poked out from either side of her head, the pale nature of her skin complimenting well against the brown hair. The outfit outlined the curve of her chest and hips, causing Corine to wonder if it was intentional from Gespard`s side.
"All this running around, just for an outfit?...They really love their clothing here", she spoke out loud to herself, running her fingers over the soft fabric. The urge to turn around and go check up on her family was strong, but it would`t look well, if the Emperor`s new page, didn`t show up for the grand feast...He knew sending her out on this errand would make her late, but the patience of an Emperor should`t be strained.
A few minutes later, having followed the music and voices, she located the feast itself. The amount of noise almost became too overwhelming, but she forced herself into the room itself. Her height of 5`3, and the shortness of her ears, quickly stirred the nobles she passed. Heads were bumped together, as silent whispers and chatter began. Corine, too focused on not messing up on her first day, ignored said chatter and began to look for the emperor...which didn`t take long. Unsurprising she found him in a crowd of nobles, mostly women, and he seemed to be in talk with...Well, it looked to be a brunette girl, who looked far too young to be hitting on Gespard..and the dress she wore; just how much had this little girl wasted on a dress?
Grabbing a tray from a passing elven servant, she began to move herself through the crowd of nobl-..well, not nobles, more like the Emperor`s fanclub. With her short stature it didn`t take her long, and soon she found her way to Gespard. Listening in, her sharp ears caught bits of his conversation with the little girl in blue; He complimented her, and she proposed that they kept each other company for the night...There was another female next to the little girl in blue, with fire in her eyes; jealously maybe? Well, it wasen`t Corine`s job to know.
Letting Gespard finish, she straighten up her back and held out the silver tray, the wine lightly whirling around in the glass. "More wine, your grace?". Trying to keep her voice formal, she glanced up at him with her sky-blue eyes. Knowing the window of conversation would only be open brief, she followed up moments later. "Orlais is as magnificent as you described it, and the clothes, through it caused me to delay, just as wonderful. I hope I wear it right, it is the first time I am in anything but armor and cotton". Her Ferelden accent cut through most of the Orlesian chatter, through it was light and formal, making it quite soothing if you listened well.
Her lips curved into a momentary smile, before she made a light bow, tugging the now empty tray against her stomach. As instructed, she remained standing next to the honorary Emperor, the warm light of the feast getting caught in the fringes of chestnut hair and bright eyes. She doubted any introductions would be made, she was just his page after all, and the nobles were focused on their beloved Emperor, and his new champion.
