The western lands of Orlais are a dangerous terrain, where the cold white desert, Absyssal Reach and the Adamant Fortress can be found. It was once the home to the Gray Wardens and where Pharamond was sent to do his research on Tranquilty, but after their passing the land has recently been silent; out of fear that the Darkspawn may one day emerge from the depths of the Abyssal Reach.

Once the home to the Elves, but now the home to the Orlesian people, a rich place filled with old ruins and memories. It is here the old elven capital Halamshiral is located, which has now transformed into a human city. Further north of the Dales, close to Ferelden border stands the city Jader, a military driven place always vigilant and ready to act on the Empress command.

In the far south of Orlais are the Gamordan Peaks, tall mountains that protects the land from the cold southern wind. It is close to those mountains on the southern side that the city Mont-de-glace can be found, a lonely city far from others. There are many rumors about the city itself and many believes it to be abandoned, whether or not it is, almost no one wishes to travel so far into the cold lands just to discover the truth.

In the northern parts of Orlais, close to the border of Nevarra are the cities Val Chevin, Montfort, Gishlain, Churneau and Arlesans located. In the past years these cities have been in struggle and war with those of Nevarra, but after peace treaty was made between the two countries, there has only been a high tension and superstition among them. The land itself shows many scars of war, but in the years of peace it has prospered. Now the Marquis of the northern lands have chosen to stand with Empress Celene against Gespard in the civil war, what the outcome will be, no one knows.
