Important Info:
If you have a mage then please post below so we can keep track of everyone and how proficient they are at using their magic. Even if your character is an apostate who has never been to a circle, then put down what status they would most likely have if they were in a circle. Not everyone can be a first enchanter of course. While I would personally love to have many first enchanter ranked mages to help with the mage/templar war, it's just not realistic, especially for very young mages.
Grand Enchanter The official position of Grand Enchanter is currently held by Fiona, a former Grey Warden and ex-lover of Ferelden's late King Maric. A mage was formerly elected to this position by the College of Magi when they met in Cumberland. Before the mages' split from the Chantry, the Grand Enchanter was the Circle's direct representative to the Chantry and the Divine's adviser. Mages at this level are thought to be the most powerful, normally having devoted decades to the study and practice of magic.
- Grand Enchanter Fiona, leader of the mages at Andoral's Reach
First Enchanters These mages were head their individual circles all over Thedas. They are quite formidable indeed, and thought extremely unlikely to make any deals with beings from the Fade. Those who were members of a former circle attended the College of Magi, and would likely have been imprisoned by Lord Seeker Lambert for fighting back in defense of Senior Enchanter Wynne's son Rhys, who Lambert accused of murder at a College of Enchanters not long before the mages' official separation from the Chantry.
- Enchanter Ivring, former leader of the Ferelden's circle (canon not yet taken)
- Enchanter Adrian, leader of the Libertarians (canon not yet taken)
Senior Enchanters These mages have studied magic for most of their lives. They are very skilled, and forces to be reckoned with if you insight their wrath, and have likely joined one of the fraternities of enchanters.
- Enchanter Rhys, leader of the Aequitarians (canon not yet taken)
Enchanters Mages who participated in teaching younger mages at their circle, or mages who have devoted many years to the study of magic. These mages are relatively skilled in their craft. Many will choose a specific area of magic to study, such as healing or force magic.
- Azalea Valdea, Enchanter
Mages Those who passed their harrowing at a circle, or those who have been studying magic for years and have a good grasp of the basics of magic, and are able to cast basic spells. Likely to be at least in their mid-teenage years.
- Adelyne Castillon, Mage-Apostate
- Anders, Mage-Apostate
Apprentices Those who have started their studies of magic rather recently.

Mages
Mages have been around for many, many centuries. In earlier days the Chantry used mages for menial tasks, such as lighting candles and lamps. Unsurprisingly, the mages eventually grew dissatisfied with their role. In a completely unsurprising move, the mages of Val Royeaux snuffed out the flames of Divine Ambrosia II's cathedral, prompting her to order an Exalted March on her own cathedral.
It is said that the fires in the cathedral did not burn for 21 days while negotiations were conducted, and that the mages went cheerfully into exile, where they would be under the watchful eyes of the templar order. Perhaps this was true. Perhaps mages and templars cooperated better back then, or perhaps this is a lie told by the Chantry, to make it appear that the mages were happy with their position, and still are. We may never know.
Recently however the Circle of Magi has dissolved, and Lord Seeker Lambert declared the Nevarran Accord null and void. Lambert has claimed sole responsibility for dealing with the mages in Thedas, and many templars follow his lead. This of course has not pleased Grand Enchanter Fiona. It was she, along with her friends in the Libertarians who called for the separation of the Circle of Magi from the Chantry, and mages' independence. Now the mages gathered at Andoral's Reach must fight to keep their newly declared independence against Lambert and his supporters.
