CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Jenna is unusually tall for a woman, with strong features and a very strong build from years as a warrior. She has long blond hair which she keeps back in a tail and headband. She is heavily scarred from various burns and slashes, most of them received when the king was assassinated at the Grand Tourney in Cumberland.
Personality: Serious and dutiful, Jenna often gives the impression of being somewhat stolid. She is, however, quite intelligent, simply preferring to keep her observations to herself until such a time as they become useful. She is also something of a womanizer, and very relaxed when not on duty. Even tempered to the last, she is steady and reliable - the first you would want in a crisis.
HISTORY
Being the only child of the king's bodyguard, Jenna grew up in the palace alongside the royal children. This granted her the rare opportunity for a proper education, and her father insisted that she take advantage of it. Ever dutiful, Jenna studied hard, doing well in her studies with the help of the crown prince Stephan. Where she really excelled, however, was combat training. She began training with a sword and shield as soon as she could lift them, showing promise early on. Unfortunately, her training left her little time for Prince Stephan despite her best efforts to spend time with him.
As they grew older they got very close, but as she got older Jenna found that she preferred the company of other women for her more intimate activities. The more time she spent with other women, however, the more alone Stephan seemed to feel and Jenna tried very hard to make more time for him. She would often meet him in the library to talk and study, and they spent a great deal of time together on the training field while she practiced. This, however, led to a great many rumours being spread about the two, though they were always quickly dismissed once it was known that Jenna was a lesbian.
When she was fifteen, Jenna said goodbyes to her family and friend to sign on with a group of dragon hunters. She spent the next three years traveling with them, her courage and steady, calm demeanor quickly making he a valued member of the team. Proving her worth early on by harrying a dragon to distract it from an injured teammate, the older hunters trained her well, each teaching her everything they could.
She missed her friend the prince terribly however, and when she was eighteen she joined the grand Tournament in Cumberland to represent her family, hoping to see the prince there. She won several events and was participating in the grand melee, closing in on her final opponent - the chevalier Forsard Malcote - when disaster struck. There was an explosion in the stands and the grounds, and Jenna was badly injured while her opponent was killed. Severely burned and bleeding, Jenna could see the stands where the royal family was sitting and pulled herself off the ground.
Her vision blurred by smoke and pain, her ears still ringing from the blast, Jenna yet managed to make her way to the ruin of the stands. She had no eyes for the king, seeing only her friend Prince Stephan injured and alone in a sea of flames and corpses. Casting her armour aside so the hot metal wouldn't burn him without the protection of the thick underpadding Jenna wore, she charged through the flames and gathered him to her chest, shielding him with her body as the escaped the fire.
Suffering severe burns over much of her body, Jenna would likely have died if not for the aid of the royal healers. She stayed at the palace to recover at the invitation of the prince - now king. It was during her recovery that she learned her father had died trying to protect the king, and King Stephan made her his new bodyguard. She also learned that the new king was having nightmares, and when she was recovered was summoned to his room.
Having long suspected Stephan's true feelings for her, Jenna was unsurprised to learn what sort of comforted he wanted from her. She had always preferred women, having no attraction to men, but she cared for her friend deeply and took to his bed willingly. The rumours started again after that, but as his nightmares eased somewhat they didn't care and they quickly discovered another benefit to sharing their bed - they shared a similar taste in women.
