When you join our forum, you will need to know a few rules. Below you will see that the rules are divided in two groups, General Rules and Role-Play Rules. The General rules will explain how you should behave not related to Role-Play; the Role Play Rules will explain how your Role-Play character should behave. If you wish to pick a canon or wish to lead a large force of warriors, you will find extended rules on the bottom of this thread.
Accounts:
1.1.1 As this is a Dragon Age RP community, we recommend that you sign up with the name you wish your character to have. There are no restrictions to how many characters you can have, but please be sure you can handle one account before choosing to make more. In order to keep the plot moving forward, two Activity Checks are held each month. In order to avoid being flagged as inactive and moved to storage, be sure to post there - see guidelines for details.
1.1.2 For each account you must have an avatar of your character. If your Avatar is not of your character you will be asked to take it down until you replace it with one that is. Maximum avatar size: 150px widght and 240px height. The board does not re-size your avatar if it is too large, so you will have to do it yourself. No nudity or explicit content allowed
1.1.3 Signatures are not necessary but if you do want one make sure it does not stretch the boards or have one that is extremely tall. 550px widght and 200px height maximum. No nudity or explicit content allowed.
Out of Characters
1.2.1 Respect all staff, members, and guests. There is no need to be mean and rude. This means be mature; you can still have fun and goof around but take it only so far.
1.2.2 Admins have the final word in any decisions made for the site. Veto power over plots, changes to the board, or any other site altering is reserved for the admins.
1.2.3 Do not take personal offense from anything done to your character by another. What happens in the roleplay should not affect what happens out of character.
1.2.4 All staff, including the Admins, is here to listen to your ideas, complaints, and suggestions. We will do whatever to fulfill our job as a staff member in respect to you. In return, you must give us the respect we deserve.
C-box Regulations
1.3.1 Please be polite with one another whether you are staff, a member or a guest.
1.3.2 No arguing, if you have a problem with another member PM a staff member, we will handle it from there.
1.3.3 Do not impersonate staff or any other members.
1.3.4 No advertising of any kind, we have a board for that.
1.3.5 No bashing the site, staff, members, guests or any other external site.
1.3.6 Have fun!!
Disciplinary Actions
1.4.1 Here at Dragon Age we have a three strike system. There are no exceptions to this rule. Only admins are allowed to give strikes, all other staff and members must PM an admin before confronting the offender.
--Strike one; this will result in a warning and can occur from three minor or one major infraction of the rules.
--Strike two; this will result in a suspension for two weeks.
--Strike three; this will result in a permanent ban from the site and your accounts deleted.
Characters:
2.1.1 Once you have signed up and read the rules, your next task will be to create your character. Fill in the Application located in Character Creation, copy it and paste it in the awaiting origin board, then await for a moderator to accept it before beginning the role-play.
2.1.2 If you choose to pick a canon character, you must still fill in the template according to how the canon acts and are.
2.1.3 If your character is a nobility or a royalty, you must be sure to keep track on your estate, household and land. For example: If you are the current ruler of Ferelden, then it will be your task to add the thread which explains your division of your people and army, as well important structures in your land like your estate, inns and other information in general. To begin dividing your army from the people, look at your country`s total population number in the thread; Thedas Population.
2.1.4 You are allowed to use face claims for your character or concept art from games or other work.
2.1.5 Mary-Sues/Gary-Stues, make sure your character isn`t one. Characters cannot be all beautiful, all knowing, stronger than a horse and feeding all starving children of Thedas. Please be sure your characters have flaws and resemble the races of the world.
2.1.6 The forum is set in the Dragon Age universe, where clothing is similar Roman/Medieval/Renaissance, please stick to it. In this there are no cars, guns or high technology.
2.1.7 If you are rusty on the Dragon Age subject you can ask a staff member or even do some research yourself. In the codex board you should find all you need to know.
Role-Play:
2.2.1 Be realistic, both in words and actions. No glowing swords or teleport.
2.2.2 When starting a thread please add [Open], or [Private] at the end of the thread title. [Open] meaning that anyone is welcome to join and [Private] meaning that you are RPing in that thread with certain people. Both types of threads are destined to have a plot set before the beginning, if one wishes, and those people who have a plot should be careful when changing its caurse. Should someone wish to increase the drama or drag it in another direction it has to be notified and everyone has to agree.
2.2.3 Within the profiles of each account you may quickly see something called Character Stats. The way it works effect your Role-Play in some ways, but is not dominated by it. The Character stats are only to be counted for when a duel between characters is to be fought, or when a moderator may create a challenge. To know more how it works, read its rules in; Character Creation.
2.2.4 God-moding and power playing is not allowed, this means you cannot know everything or control another's actions when roleplaying.
2.2.5 There is no killing, maiming, or seriously injuring another person’s character without their permission.
2.2.6 Ch@tsp3ak shud not b use IC. It iz anoying & no1 wantz 2 c it. Please use proper grammar and remember there is a spell check.
1.2.7 Please write the narrative in third person and dialogue in first person.
2.2.8 We do not have a word count on Dragon Age, although we do prefer members to write at least two paragraphs or more, that is 8-12 sentences or more.
2.2.9 Big army battles should only be done in the battlefield board. Please read all the rules found in Warfare Rules before starting the fight.
2.2.10 No sexual content allowed: Due to Proboards strict regulations no one is allowed to write or show detailed what one do to another, simply fade into black if the scene escalates.
2.2.11 Please include the Time Stamps into the starter posts of your threads so that we can keep track of what takes place when, and to keep the board organized!
