Empress Celene I

Brief Overview:
Celene's ascension to the Orlesian throne is swathed in rumours, with some Orlesians claiming that she organized the assassination of her uncle to seize power. Celene is an amateur scholar and her patronage of education and the arts has led to a cultural renaissance in her empire. She is willing to put historical disputes behind her, and enter into an alliance with Ferelden, though it should be said this alliance would ultimately benefit her. Recently the people have began turning against her, due to false rumors and her recent meetings with King Alistair of Ferelden. She is now facing a civil war and has fled to gather her army at Jadar, fighting against her rival the Grand Duke Gespard.

Grand Duke Gespard de Chalons

Brief Overview:
For years the Grand Duke of Orlais have been blamed by Empress Celene I as one of many who plotted the assassination of his own father, Emperor Florian. He has lived in exile ever since and has become well skilled with the sword and a great tactician, wanting both redemption and revenge for what has happened. His stubborn personality have often led to disastrous decisions and he has over the years become more and more bloodthirsty, having killed friends and loved once without reason. He has now began a civil war in Orlais, supported by those who wishes to see an end to Celene`s rule.

Lord Seeker Lambert

Brief Overview:
After having served as a Templar in many years, both in Tevinter and elsewhere, Lambert received the honor of joining the ranks of the Seekers. He eventually became their leader and he stationed himself in the White Spire a year after the incidents in Kirkwall, where he decided to guard the world from more Mage trouble. Despite Lambert`s strict rules and observations, the Mages broke free. Seeing that the White Divine supported the Mages during their escape, Lambert proclaiming an annulment of the Nevarran Accord, which would divide The Seekers and the Templar Order from Chantry rule. With fear and anger he now commands his followers, preparing a war against the Mages.

White Divine Justinia V

Brief Overview:
Before her ascension to Divine, Justinia V was known as Dorothea, an Orlesian Revered Mother serving in a small Fereldan village. Divine Beatrix III was killed by a huge stroke in 9:34 Dragon, and as tradition dictated, left behind the name of her preferred successor: Dorothea. Dorothea was elected Divine, though with some controversy among the Grand Clerics, due to her colorful past. With a Mage-Templar War spreading fear throughout Thedas, she favors a peaceful solution to the problem rather than defeating it with more violence. Now as the Seekers and the Templar order have rebelled against her, due to her involvement, she holds only onto those loyal to her, believing that someone soon will try and replace her. She is a close friend to Leliana and Cassandra, both whom now serves as her personal agents.

Leliana/Nightingale

Brief Overview:
Leliana was born in Orlais, but her mother was a Ferelden. She became a skilled Bard, but fled to Ferelden when she discovered her old mentor and lover Marjolaine wanted her dead. She managed to stop Marjolaine and gained a friendship with Sister Doreatha, the current White Divine. Later she joined the company of Aedan Cousland, with whom she aided to defeat the Fifth Blight. She became a hero and soon after she was to marry Aedan, but as Aedan mysteriously disappeared, she was once again left alone and she returned to Orlais. Now she serves her old friend the White Divine, as her personal agent, traveling around the world with Cassandra in hope of finding a solution to the Mage-Templar problem.

Cassandra Pentaghast

Brief Overview:
Cassandra is a member of the famous Nevarran Pentaghast clan, a royalty among her kin, known as skilled Dragon Hunters. She left her home in a very young age and she joined the Seekers of Truth, being a loyal Andrastian believer. When Lord Seeker Lambert took command over the Seekers of Truth, her loyalty toward her brethren began to waver and once Lambert broke the Nevarran accord with the White Divine, she became an outlawed Seeker and a personal agent to the White Divine Junistia V. Now she travels around the world with Leliana, seeking a solution the Mage-Templar conflict.

Grand Enchanter Fiona

Brief Overview:
Fiona grew up in an Alienage in Orlais until her family died and she was orphaned, she was then taken care of by an Orlesian Count who abused her, but whom she killed with her magical powers. She fled and joined the Gray Wardens, becoming a good friend to Duncan. Together with Duncan and King Maric she traveled into the Deep Roads, where she evolved a relationship with the King. Some month later after reporting at Waisshaupt Fortress about her mission, she returned to Ferelden, wanting to tell about her pregnancy. Instead she chose to keep the birth of the child hidden and she gave Duncan and Eamon the responsibility to raise the child, the child was named Alistair and his mother`s name was covered by lies. Fiona later traveled and became the Grand Enchanter. During the Mage-Templar War she became the leader of the free mages at Andoral`s Reach, where she is now preparing a war against the Templar`s.

Enchanter Rhys

Brief Overview:
Rhys is the estranged mage son of the Fereldan senior enchanter, Wynne, and an unknown Templar. Rhys was taken from his mother shortly after his birth and ended up in the White Spire in Orlais as he evolved magical abilities, becoming a rare mage with powers as a medium. There he became a close friend to a girl named Adrian, but it was not before his teenage years that he discovered the existence of his mother. With Wynne, Adrian and the Knight Captain Evengeline he traveled to discover secrets of Tranquilty at Adamant fortress. He evolved a relationship with the Knight Captain and his friendship to Adrian became tense, even mages had tried to make him a member of the Libertarians he eventually choose to follow the wisdom of his mother after her death and became the leader of the Aequitarians. Once the mage rebellion escalated, he joined the free mages at Andoral`s reach with his current girlfriend Knight Captain Evangeline.

Enchanter Adrian

Brief Overview:
Since Adrian was born, she has most of her life lived within the White Spire of Orlais with an aggressive attitude toward the might of the Templars. Since the events in Kirkwall she has fought hard for the freedom of the mages and she is currently the leader of Libertarians fraternity. She used to be Rhys' best friend and former lover, but her actions in forcing a Mage-Templar conflict have strained their relationship. She accompanied Wynne, Rhys and Evangeline on their journey to the fortress of Adamant, but once they returned with results, she brought the freedom to the mages in a most despicable way, framing her friend Rhys to get what she wanted. When the Mages were free she left with them to Andoral`s reach, where she became first enchanter and a friend to Fiona.

Knight-Captain Evangeline

Brief Overview:
Evangeline de Brassard is an Orlesian Templar who have abandoned her brethren, but whom still holds loyalty toward the Chantry. Most people may consider her too beautiful to be a warrior, although since her youth she has followed in her father`s footsteps. At the White Spire in Orlais she was stationed as a Knight-Captain among the Templars, where she sought to protect others from harm. When Lord Seeker Lambert took command over the White Spire and the order, she began to doubt the intentions of her comrades, seeing how dominant the Templars really were. She traveled with Wynne, Adrian and Rhys toward Adamant Fortress to unravel hidden secrets, but on the journey she developed strong feelings for Rhys. When she returned and Lord Seeker Lambert took actions against the Mages, she protected them and helped them escape. Evangeline are now among the free mages at Andoral`s reach, close to her boyfriend Rhys.

Shale

Brief Overview:
Shale is actually a female dwarf trapped within a Golem`s body, one of the last dwarven war golems still wandering in Thedas. Shale sided with the Ferelden rebels during the Orlesian occupation, but during the Blight she joined the Warden and his companions on a mission to defeat the Archdemon. Shale developed a good friendship with the Mage Wynne and after the Blight; the two of them began to travel around the world. Shale assisted Wynne on many missions, traveling both here and there on certain errands. Once Wynne died, Shale decided to go with Rhys, assisting the mages at Andoral`s Reach, ready for battle should the Templars dear to come.

Ferelden
King Alistair Theirin

Brief Overview:
The illegitimate son of King Marric and Grand Enchanter Fiona, Alistair was raised by Arl Eamon. The Arl endeavored to hide the boy's existance from Marric's wife Queen Rowan. Eventually, under pressure from his wife Isolde, Eamon sent Alistair to the Chantry. He trained in the Chantry for many years to become a templar, until he was conscripted by Duncan into the Grey Wardens. During the Landsmeet Alistair decided to marry his half-brother's widow Anora and became King of Ferelden. During his reign as king he chose to give land in the Kocari Wilds to the elves, and appointed Shianni as the abasador of the alianage in Denerim. There were those who did not approve of his choices however, and the killed Shianni to show their disapproval. Alistair's relationship with his wife has never been a happy one, and there are rumors that he has begun a relationship with Empress Celene of Orlais. Other rumors say that he is not the trueborn son of King Maric and that he is hiding Mages from the Templars.

Queen Anora Mac Tir

Brief Overview:
Anora is the daughter of Teyrn Loghain and Celia Mac Tir. Her father was made a teyrn shortly after her birth, so she grew up living a privileged life. As a child she preferred to read and spend time with her mother instead of playing with the other children in the city. Her first husband was King Cailan, and she helped him rule Ferelden until an ogre murdered him during the Fifth Blight. At the Landsmeet called by Arl Eamon she agreed to marry King Marric's illegitimate son Alistair in order to stay on the throne, despite her grudge against the man. She holds Alistair partly responsible for her father's death, perhaps even more than the grey warden, because he was so determined to have him executed. Though they have been married for some time now Anora has not born the new King any children, and she is thought to be infertile. She strongly suspects that her husband is being unfaithful.

Arl Teagan Guerrin

Brief Overview:
Teagan is the brother of the late Queen Rowan and Arl Eamon. His sister-in-law Isolde came to him when his nephew Connor was possessed by a demon, hoping that bringing him to see Connor would help in some way. He agreed in hopes of distracting whatever was inside the castle so that the Warden would have a chance at saving his brother. While the Warden was successful in bringing Eamon out of his comatose like state, Isolde and Connor eventually perished during the Blight. After his brother Eamon's death, Teagan became the Arl of Redcliff, as well as an adviser to his 'sort of' nephew King Alistair. He met his wife Kaitlyn at court by chance, who was a well respected foundry owner. They married and currently have one child together.

Arlessa Kaitlyn

Brief Overview:
Kaitlyn and her brother Bevin lived in Redcliff when the Arl was poisoned and odd creatures started coming into the city. She met the Grey Warden in the Chantry, who found her brother Bevin for her and gave her enough money to start a business. Wanting to forget the terrible things that had happened in Redcliff, she fled to Denerim and opened her own foundry there with the money the Warden had given her. Bevin eventually left her side to become a Ferelden soldier wielding his father's sword. During the coronation of the new King and Queen of Ferelden she met her future husband Teagan Guerrin. They currently have one child together.

Nathaniel Howe

Brief Overview:
Nathaniel Howe is the son of the late Arl Rendon Howe, and brother of Delilah and Thomas Howe. He was angered that his father was murdered and their family name slandered, while his father's murderer was hailed as a hero, and he tried to assassinate the Hero of Ferelden at Vigil's Keep. He was unsuccessful however, and soon conscripted into the Grey Wardens by the very man he tried to kill. Slowly but surely a friendship between Nathaniel and the Warden formed, and Nathaniel was given back his family's land. Now that the Warden has vanished, Nathaniel is Warden Commander of Ferelden.

Delilah Howe

Brief Overview:
Delilah is the only daughter of Arl Rendon Howe, and sister of Thomas and Nathaniel Howe. Before her father turned against the Couslands, he had wanted her to marry Teyrn Cousland's youngest son, who later became the Hero of Ferelden. Unlike her brother Nathaniel, she was able to see her father for who he truly was. She married a merchant named Albert, with whom she had a child. A few years later they divorced, and she moved back into her old home when it was returned to her brother Nathaniel. She now governs the household, constantly worried for her brother`s safety.

Tyrne Fergus Cousland

Brief Overview:
The eldest son of the late Teyrn and Teyrna Cousland, and the elder brother to the Hero of Ferelden. He went ahead of his father to Ostagar to answer King Calian's call for aid. His wife and son, as well as his mother and father were killed during Arl Howe's attack on the Couslands. During the Fifth Blight he was lost in the Korcari Wilds, but later found and was brought to the coronation of King Alistair and Queen Anora in Denerim, once the Blight had ended. Some time after the coronation he retook Highever and became it's Teyrn. With most of his family dead, and his little brother vanished, Fergus has turned to drinking to try and forget his grief.

The Free Marches
Knight-Commander Cullen

Brief Overview:
Cullen was one of the templars stationed at the Circle of Magi in Ferelden when Uldred's plans came into fruition. After the Warden defeated Uldred and some of his supporters he witnessed the restoration of the Circle. After the Blight Knight-Commander Greagoir sent him to Kirkwall to work under Knight-Commander Meredith. He witnessed the beginning of the Mage-Templar war while in her service. He was later given the rank of Knight Commander Cullen of the entire Free Marches region, and serves the Templar Order ruled by Lord Seeker Lambert, though he wishes to stay loyal to the White Divine. He is currently chasing mages in the Free Marches, with the aid of Sebastian Vael.

Prince Sebastian Vael

Brief Overview:
Once a devoted brother in the Chantry, Sebastian's entire family was murdered by mercenaries hired by the Harimann family. Wanting revenge, Sebastian posted a notice on the Chanter's board promising a reward to those who killed the Flint company mercenaries who killed his family. Hawke took up the challenge, and Sebastian eventually decided to travel with her. He later learned just who had hired the mercenaries, Lady Harimann a supposed friend of the family had been consumed with the desire to rule Starkhaven herself. After finding out the true reason behind his family's murder Sebastian stayed with Hawke and later sided with the Templars in the Mage-Templar war due to the death of his beloved friend Grand Cleric Elthina. Sebastian has since waged war against the Mages as the Prince of Starkhaven.

Varric Tethras

Brief Overview:
Varric was the one who suggested Hawke help fund the Deep Roads Expedition, the expedition that yielded enough money and treasures to let her buy back the Amell Estate in Hightown. Unlike his older brother Bartrand, Varric was not born in Orzammar, but in Kirkwall. He has always lived as a surface dwarf. Varric fought alongside Hawke and witnessed the beginnings of the Mage-Templar war. After the Mage rebellion in Kirkwall, Varric remained but spoke nothing of his missing friend Hawke.

Aveline Vallen

Brief Overview:
Aveline Vallen was one of the many soldiers who fought in the battle of Ostagar, and one of the few who survived. She was forced to kill her husband Wesley on the journey out of Lothering before he succumbed to the darkspawn taint. She then fled to Kirkwall with the Hawkes. Strong and determined, Aveline rose quickly through the ranks of Kirkwall's city guard, eventually becoming captain of the guard. She too fought along side Hawke when the Mage-Templar war reared it's head. Eventually Hawke disappeared, and though Aveline remained in Kirkwall she said nothing of her old friend's whereabouts.

Sten/Arishok

Brief Overview:

Sten was originally sent to Ferelden to answer the Arishok's question, "What is the Blight?". He lost consciousness in battle at Lake Calenhad, and lost his sword. Panicked and desperate to find his sword, he murdered a farming family with his bare hands and was imprisoned in Lothering for two or three weeks. When the Warden came to Lothering he found Sten locked up and convinced the Reverend Mother to release him into his custody. He traveled with the Warden to end the Blight in hopes of regaining some of his honor. Along the way the Warden found his sword and returned it to him. After the Archdemon was defeated Sten returned home to Par Vollen, where he continued to serve the Qun.

Tallis

Brief Overview:
Tallis was found by the Qunari and converted sometime after her parents sold her into slavery. During her time with the Quanari she trained as a Ben-Hassrath. She fought alongside Hawke on a short mission, accompanying her to Chateau Haine. Ariqun did not feel the situation was worth intervening, but Tallis decided to stop old mentor Salit anyway. Together they stopped Salit from selling Quanari secrets to the Tal Vashoth. They halted the plans of Orlais, but she was punished for her deeds. Tallis was once again called on by the Qun, but after doing her job, she this time decided to abandon the Qun, becoming Tal Vashoth.

Fenris

Brief Overview:
Fenris was once a slave of Danarius, a Tevinter Magister, whom gave him markings of lyrium on his skin that have granted him the unnatural ability to phase through solid objects. He managed to escape with no memory of his previous life and came to Kirkwall, where he met the Champion Hawke whom aided him in killing his former tormenter, Danarius' apprentice Hadrianna. He up on Hadrianna's information after her death, and met his sister Varania, who betrayed him by telling his former master Danarius where he was. Determined not to go back to a life of slavery, he killed Danarius. Consumed by anger at her betrayal, he killed his sister as well though she pleaded for him to let her go. He witnessed the start of the Mage-Templar war in Kirkwall and now wanders around the world, seeking an answer to his life.

Zevran Arainai

Brief Overview:
Zevran is the son of a Dalish elf who left her clan and an elven wood cutter. He was raised by prostitutes until the age of seven, until the Antivan Crows bought him. He trained for years with them to become a full-fledged assassin. He was hired by Teyrn Loghain to kill the remaining Grey Wardens, but failed and ended up joining his targets on their quest to end the Blight. After the Blight Zevran was hunted by Crows, and he eventually went into hiding after killing many of their members. There is a rumor that Zevran now has returned to Antiva, to end his persecution once and for all.

Isabela

Brief Overview:
Isabella was a ship captain, then smuggler, then ship captain again. After losing possession of the valuable Tome of Koslun, Isabella was stranded at Kirkwall, bringing the Kossith (Quanari) with her. Eventually she located the Tome again and retrieved it and ran off. Through a massive error in judgement, or so she claims, Isabella turned back and fought her way through the Kossith attacking the city to return the tome to the Arishok. Thankfully for her, Serah Hawke did not allow her to be taken and punished by the Kossith for her theft. She fought alongside Hawke during the Mage Rebellion. Afterwards she left Kirkwall with her new pirate ship and crew and currently sails around the open seas.

Anders

Brief Overview:
Anders is an apostate mage determined to escape the Templars might, with whom he has developed a rather antagonistic relationship. Nothing they have done to him has dampened his desire for personal freedom. He has a deep affinity for the downtrodden and underprivileged, and for cats. When he met the Gray Warden Commander of Ferelden, he was made a member of the Warden order. He was believed to have been killed at Vigil`s Keep during the Darkspawn siege, but in fact he survived mysteriously. He was later found in Kirkwall possessed by the spirit Justice, whom his mind had turned into a spirit of vengeance. He became a companion to Hawke and developed a relationship with her; he in secret however plotted and began the Mage-Templar war by blowing up the Chantry in Kirkwall. Since then he has wandered in the wild, in search for a better future, at first with Hawke and Merrill, but later alone.

Brief Overview:
Merrill was born into the Alerion clan, which wandered the hills of Nevarra. She was the third child of the clan with magic born to her. Following the next Arlathvenn, the gathering of Dalish clans, she was given to the Sabrae clan to be the First to Keeper Marethari. In the new clan she became good friends with an elf named Tamlen, but whom eventually disappeared within the Brecillian Forest in Ferelden. Merrill has since then tried to find out what happened to her friend and she believes Tamlan disappeared into the mirror, into the fade. When her clan moved on to the Free Marches, Merrill joined Hawke on her quests, banished by the Dalish Elves due to her dangerous practice in magic. When the Mages rebelled in Kirkwall, she sided with them and after the battle she decided to journey with her friends, Hawke and Anders. Today she is currently living among the Mages at Andoral`s reach.
