Maker’s breath, last night’s assault was difficult. We lost a quarter of the militia, and morale has plummeted. These are not trained soldiers… For Andraste’s sake these are villagers we just handed bows and swords to. They lack the proper training and mindset! Had Isolde not sent so many men on that fool’s errand… Well, I guess there’s little we can do on that now. At least some knights have returned.
Most fortunate news, my nephew survived Ostagar! I could scarcely believe it when I saw him, yet Alistair walked into the chantry this morning, along with a few others, including another Warden, Aedan Cousland. What happened to that young man’s family was a tragedy, and an injustice that must be corrected. For the time being, however, we must focus on the night ahead. Already, morale is improving amongst the men, and the arrival of this small party brought a new electricity of much needed optimism to the village. Maker turn his gaze upon us, for even with this new group I fear tonight will not be easy…
