[/i]Because even though the worlds have been apparently healed, dark scars remain. The horrors that were once tossed over the worlds haven't been forgotten. The wounds left on people's hearts haven't closed. Indeed. A year had gone by, Riku continued to feel the grip of darkness tugging at his heart, and the voice of Ansem continued to torment him. Roxas lived on within Sora, trying to warn him of the chaos that was about to ensue, but the heroes, tired and numb from their last fight with the darkness, couldn't even imagine what was about to start.
It would be foolish to believe that the Heartless are gone - wherever there are weak hearts, the Heartless will continue to spawn to devour them. And, wherever lies a strong will, a new Nobody will be created. Dark thoughts breed more dark thoughts. And, the darkness wouldn't really disappear - it's always there, creating a balance. Light and Darkness; both living in harmony...
...until now.
Light and Darkness were always meant to exist in harmony, and neither force was ever meant to tower over the other. But, each of them had its fair share of warriors, including those who had already passed away... and a burst of hatred, pain brought by those who had been lost to the darkness, exploded. The sudden burst of darkness affected all of the worlds, the Door to Darkness was left wide open, and the worlds started to slowly fade into blackness. People who should be at peace was brought back, with no memory of their previous life, and things that should have been forgotten, were brought back.
