Below you will find a list of the four classes that exists in Thedas, choose therefor carefully which class you pick, as every class has different talents and different ways of living. Be noticed, that the class you pick will decide your abilities and what kind of weapons your character will be able to have.
Mage
There is magic in all living things. While every elf, dwarf, human, qunari, animal, and plant is permeated with magic, only a rare few beings can manipulate it. The mage class represents these users of magic. They have been gifted (or cursed depending on your point of view) with the ability to absorb mana, the life force of living beings, and use it to cast magical spells. This sets them apart from normal people. In some time and places, mages have been honored for their power and wisdom. In others they have been feared and hunted, especially once the dangers of demonic possession were understood. Blood magic, as practiced by the mages of Tevinter and the malificar, has also made mages widely feared.
The mage class represents users of magic in Thedas, most commonly from the Circle of Magi but sometimes the renegade apostates. A mage is capable of amazing feats, but must be wary of demonic attack when using powerful magic. The very gift that allows mages to use magic is makes them vulnerable to possession.
As a mage you will be a master of arcane powers. You should stay away from melee combat (let warriors handle that) and use spells to help your allies and harm your enemies. Mages generally don`t wear armor or carry many weapons except their staff, so your Defense should be low.
Weapon Groups:
Brawling and Staves
Warrior
The warrior is the classic fighting man or woman. You can use this class to represent any kind martial character. Your character could be a soldier, an ex-soldier, a caravan guard, a mercenary, a militiaman, or a former blacksmith. A warrior may fight for honor, revenge, justice, money, or a better tomorrow. Some members of the warrior class have received formal training and others fight by instinct, all can handle themselves in a fight.
As a warrior you`ll find yourself in the thick of combat. You have access to the heavier armor and more weapons than members of any other class, and you can stand out and take a lot of damage. It is often up to you to engage hardest-hitting enemies, so the rogues and mages of the group have the chance to use their abilities.
Weapon Groups:
Brawling, Axes, Bludgeons, Bows, Heavy Blades, Light Blades, Spears or Staves.
Rogue
The rogue class represent the classic trickster. You can use this class to represent a thief, scoundrel, or conman, or a scout, expert, or a spy. While a warrior gets on brute strength and a mage on arcane power, a rogue relies on quickness and cleverness. Whether engaging in witty repartee or slipping a dagger between an enemy`s ribs, a rogue must be artful to win the day.
As a rogue you are the eyes and ears of your adventuring group. You are excellent at ranged combat and can launch devastating male attacks with your back stab ability. You are not, however, a true front line fighter. Your Defense will be good due to your Dexterity, but your light armor means you can`t absorb a lot of damage. Let the warriors go toe to toe with the enemy while you use stealth and surprise to keep them off balance.
Weapon Groups:
Bows, Brawling, Light Blades, Staves.
Citizen
The Citizen class is the ordinary man and woman within a country; they are the back bone of the entire civilization and acts as merchants, peasants, nobles, slaves and others without any capability of being a mage, warrior or rogue. They do not fight in battles, they simply live and observe the world around them, protecting themselves and their loved once from harm.
A Citizen carries no weapons, only their clothing and items they own. In a fight they would most likely flee or be killed. They may however end up in a brawl at the inns, a back ally or any other place fitted for a brawl fight.
