It was hard to get used to this place, but it was the only place she could call home now. There was no other place for her to go; she was safe here. And Sophie knew she'd get used to it, she'd start to make friends and feel more accepted amongst everyone. Hell, she had to admit, it was ten times better than the streets of Val Royeaux and the Imperial Palace. She was no longer under the control of the damned Emperor, and no longer the nobles' slave.
It was just a relief that the whole ordeal from yesterday was taken care of. She had arrived to the camp and just an hour later two people of the camp were reported missing. A search party was sent out for them, but thankfully the two were found and brought back to camp, with a couple others in tow. She wished to say that they came back safely, but considering the condition of the woman and the boy, it didn't seem to be the case. The two men with them didn't seem to be injured, just... in shock.
She heard talk of one of them being Tranquil; the boy. It sent a shudder down her spine, even when she looked at him. She saw him, sitting there. Nothing seemed too off about him. He engaged in conversation when addressed, and at times he offered up some helpful advice or interesting opinions. Nothing different from a human, but there was no emotion. She hadn't talked with him, herself. She never got the chance, nor did she want to bother him.
But now he was alone, for the most part. The others were off doing their own thing and she stood by the campfire contemplating approaching him. And she did. She sat down next to him and looked up at him, "My name's Sophie. I don't believe we've been formally introduced. I saw you guys come in yesterday, but everyone seemed a bit buys. I didn't want to be a bother."
Why was she so nervous? He was only another boy. It wasn't like he was going to harm her. But the truth was, this was the first time she had ever met, or even see, a Tranquil. She had never even met a Mage before! It wasn't that she was scared of them, quite the opposite, but she didn't know what to say. It wasn't everyday you struck up a conversation with a person who couldn't feel emotion. She was just afraid that most of the conversation would consist of her rambling and him listening with solemn eyes.
"I-I just arrived here yesterday, myself. From Val Royeaux." A small smile appeared on her face as her eyes turned back to the bright flames of the fire before them. Watching the bouncing flames made her muscles ease and her nerves relax.
