CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Aedhan has a youthful look about him, despite him hitting the big 30 in less than a year. He does have his share of age and stress on his body and face, most noticeable in faint scars here and there, but a person would never know it in conversation.
He has short and messy dark brown hair, matched with deep dark blue eyes. He has fair colored skin. It's not too tan, but it's not pale after his years in the sun. Like many elves around him, he has a typical build, slender with little muscle, and standing at about the chins of most average sized humans.
Personality: Aedhan has a very calm and kind nature about him. Most in his path would have turned bitter and hard by now, but when Lilly was born, it changed his life. Lilly has made him into the man he is today. If it weren't for her, who knows where he'd be or if he'd even be alive. Ever since she was born, he's taken life more seriously along with those around him. He does every thing he can to protect her and take care of her.
It's because of her that he has such a bright aura about him. He feels that he needs to set an example for her, show her how to act and behave.
HISTORY
On a beautiful mid-summer day in the heart of the Hunter Fell Alienage, baby Aedhan was born. His mother, Ashahl, was a petite woman with long dark hair and dark blue eyes. She was always the word of reason amongst the other elves in the alienage besides The Elder, of course. His father, Assan, always had the shiniest cinnamon colored hair and the eyes to match. Unlike Ashahl, he was a hard man to get along with. He was always so bitter and pessimistic. Ashahl was the only one there to keep things happy for young Aedhan.
When Aedhan turned 5, his father took off without a trace. Many questions arose throughout the blocks such as how he escaped and where he disappeared to, but never the question of 'why' was put into consideration. It wasn't a surprise for anyone when they woke up one morning and he was gone. Ashahl's father insisted it was only a matter of time. The City Guards sent out search parties that only lasted a day. Not one clue was left for them and they deemed him dead from there on out.
The life of poverty without a father was natural as Aedhan grew up in the Alienage. He didn't complain nor showed any signs of unhappiness. Of course, he had his share of displeasure, but he wouldn't show it around his mother. He knew his mother was living a rough life, and he tried as best as he could to make it easier for her. He learned from a young age to be independent; to not rely on anyone other than himself.
When he turned 22, the day he knew would eventually come, came. Wedding Day. It was a common tradition amongst the elves to arrange marriages for their youth. The bride and groom to be would never meet until the day of the wedding, while they spent nearly a week ahead of time preparing for the celebration. Aedhan had only heard descriptions of his betrothed from his joyful mother, who nearly bounced off the walls with glee when she talked about her. He wasn't surprised that his mother took such interest in the event. She was more excited about it then himself! Ashahl would spend hours telling him stories of her Wedding Day to Assan. Even thought it usually ended in tears and a silent night, he could see the happiness fill in her eyes.
He was nervous, of course, this was an event that would change his life. He was about to wed to a woman that he'd spend the rest of life with and would possibly be the mother of his children. When he saw her for the first time? All the nerves escalated ten times. She was more beautiful than he imagined her and now he was taking her hand to be his wife.
The rest of the day still remains a blur to him. The "I do's" and their first kiss. Even the celebration that took place after. He remembered his mom chatting up a storm with her new daughter-in-law, and already talking about children. It was just like her. She was always a dreamer and it seemed his wife took the trait as well. His mother's wishes for a grandchild weren't fulfilled until two years later at the age of 24. His wife, Anastasia, finally went into labor after several long months of pregnancy. It was an exciting day for the whole alienage. Everyone stood around and watched, lilies were placed at both her sides on the bed, and his mother was right at Ana's side until the last moments.
The mid-wife's eyes grew when the baby girl finally emerged, but it wasn't in joy. There was something wrong. The worried looks on the nurse's faces said as much. There was blood. So much blood, and not one response from the new mother. Aedhan did everything he could to talk to her, but she didn't let out a peep.
She was gone.
What everyone thought was an exciting day, turned to be the worst. Ashahl reacted as if she lost her own daughter, and Aedhan was left to take care of his new baby girl while silently grieving for his late wife. The next few months were hard, for him and his mother. She began to fall ill with an unknown sickness and Aedhan did everything he could to watch over both his daughter and his mother. But there was only so much he could do for his mother until she silently slipped away.
She was gone too.
Lilly was the only reason Aedhan made it through the next few years. She was the only one keeping him sane and happy. She remained to be his reason for living.
Just a month after he turned 29, chaos erupted in his home. Rebellion ensued throughout the alienage as his friends rioted for freedom. But it all became too dangerous for 5 year old Lilly and Aedhan refused to let her be present during such an event. There was no other choice, but to escape from the alienage now falling to shambles, and Hunter Fell altogether, as he and Lilly set off across the border to the next safest place for them: Kirkwall.
