CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Amalia tends to choose brains over beauty, thus making her a fairly simple looking girl, favoring books over looks. Some traces of beauty may be seen upon that pale complexion of hers, though she does nothing to amplify it. Once upon a time, she lived a noble life filled with jewels, make-up and dresses, but if anything, she feels far more comfortable in a simple dress and a nice fitting pair of shoes regardless of what they're made out of.
However, disregarding that, Amalia doesn't just walk outside with mud on her face or wearing a dress that's crumpled, she does make sure she is well presentable, though makes sure not to appear over-dressed. Though like all women, she does have a guilty pleasure or too, often admiring fabrics of blue, pink, and orange.
She has fair skin which is soft to the touch along with thin lips and nose, a slim face framed with breast length brown hair which she almost always keeps tied up, and lastly wide and curious hazel eyes lined with dark lashes. Her figure is slender, standing at 5ft 8in and weighs very little, though not to the point where she appears unhealthy. She has slight curves and average sized bust, though nothing too exaggerated.
Her trademark would be that she always ends up moving small strands of hair that fall in her face out of the way.
Personality: Quiet and often a daydreamer, Amalia has gained a significant amount of intelligence over the years due to her love of books, providing her with a wide vocabulary, active imagination, and open mind. She is very confident and outspoken in her opinions, and seldom likes being told what to do. Although she was brought up well educated and has an outstanding vocabulary, she tends to act how she wishes, easily fitting in with commoners and peasants.
Amalia pays very little attention to her own appearance, but ironically, is greatly aware that those around her think of her as "odd" and "peculiar". She isn't concerned about hers or other's appearances, and is able to look past how people appear and into their hearts. She isn't your typical shy and demure type of woman, though she does tend to speak very little unless an interesting topic arises, in which case... you can't get her to shut up.
With a brain filled with facts and knowledge, Amalia tends to think more than she feels. Never actually having been in a relationship before, it's quite easy to tell when she's nervous or flustered as she has a habit of bringing logic and theories into just about anything. Her love for day dreaming thus 'causes her to be rather ignorant as she fails to notice certain dangers around her. Oddly enough, despite her practical nature, she can be creative and sentimental in many other ways.
She is somewhat a feminist for her time, and refuses to be mistreated, undermined, demeaned or controlled by any man, thus making her a very defiant and imposing woman when she wishes to be. She is quite obstinate when it comes to stating her points, upholding her opinions, and maintaining her ideas.
One of Amalia's more obvious abilities is her use of vocabulary. Possibly due to her love of books and constant reading, Amalia is able to call out many words off the top of her head and use them in the correct context in order to prove a point or state a fact. Amalia is quite witty, and is able to use this trait to her advantage. When in an argument, she's able to hold her ground and challenge each of her opponent's points with a cunning comeback.
All in all, she is a woman most odd and peculiar.
HISTORY
"Wounds can become wisdom, fears accepted as facts. To believe yourself to know all thus makes you a fool, but to admit that you do not, then that is what makes you wise..."
- Amalia Von Weise.
Born Amalia Sofia Von Weise, 9:13 Dragon. She was raised as a noble within The Anderfels and born into a family of famous philosophers, scholars and writers, thus making them well known within the region and throughout other regions of Thedas. Amalia's mother, Elise Von Weise, along with the girl's father, Claus Von Weise, both made their way up in the world since becoming architects as well as scholars, being the very few to have discovered ancient ruins and translating old runes for future notes and codex's. Now retired, they are both politicians and considered highly by many, often travelling when they are summoned.
She was not without successful siblings either, being the youngest, she also had an elder brother and three older sisters. Her brother, Engel, became a Grey Warden, and although he was slain by Darkspawn, he was always remembered as a hero and reminded as such by Amalia's parents. Her three older sisters, Elsa and Klara, despite selfish and vain, had grown into beautiful fine women and were married to powerful Lords to bring two families together for wealth and power, whilst her third sister, Sofie, became a Chantry Sister.
Oh yes, Amalia's family were indeed Andrastian to the very core. And although she was a clever little child, outstanding and unlike any other, it was days after her seventh birthday in which made Amalia the black sheep of her noble family. It wasn't long until her tutor began to notice strange goings on with the child and it was until an accidental fire was caused within a Library did the Von Weise's realise the curse in which The Maker had given them. The parents grieved, not for their daughter, but asked why The Maker had done this to them. Believing their daughter to be the work of something evil, something in which opposed The Maker and His Bride, and thus they disowned their own daughter, wanting her as far away from them as possible and allowed her to be taken to The Circle of Magi in Ferelden, much to the child's dismay.
When she was a child, she was relatively happy, though it was when she got older she began to see the Circle for what it truly was. From the ages sixteen and upwards, she was constantly reminded by the Templars how dangerous she was and what would become of her if she were to fail her Harrowing, even going as far as attempting to strike fear in her heart by saying she'd become an abomination.
Upon reaching the age of seventeen, The Fifth Blight had begun and an incident involving the Circle of Magi allowed Amalia to destroy her phylactery and escape the tower, this being the only successful escape out of her various other fifteen attempts.
Now a wanderer, Amalia survived due to her quick wit and cunning, her love of books and tomes allowed her experience even at such a young age. She took refuge in Denerim for a while, working in The Wonders of Thedas for a time before soon taking a ship to Kirkwall a week before the Darkspawn attack on Denerim. She worked as a Librarian for a time, keeping her Mage identity on the down low due to the large numbers of Templars, this also included Amalia not using her Magic for the period of time in which she lived in Kirkwall. At this moment in time, the present, Amalia has become more knowledgeable of the world and is the occasional story teller when meeting travelers during her journeys - having seen and experienced many things, that, and she loves reading stories to others.
She is now making her way back to her home - The Anderfels.
