Why is it even dear? I mean it is just a book, isn't it? Then again it was quite expensive when I bought it, perhaps "beloved diary" would sound better, the name doesn't really matter, does it? Even when I'm writing I'm rambling, oh no, why did I just write that? I--... oh, now this is just getting silly...

I love drawing little doodles in my diary, it's so nice to have a cute little Halla smiling at me in the corner of the page, though I'm not very good at it. I've even drawn my friends in there - Isabela, Anders, Fenris, Aveline, Varric, and Hawke, too. I know I don't get along with most of them, Fenris and Anders always looked at me the same way my clan did, thinking that I'm a danger to everyone just because I practice blood magic. Oh, how I miss Varric's stories, though sometimes Isabela would laugh at them... perhaps I missed something dirty? I wonder how Aveline and Donnic are doing, too, they're such a cute couple!
Now that I think about it, it's been three years since I've seen all of them. I hope they are all well and safe, may the Creators watch over them.
Hawke. I wonder what she's up to now, I suppose I have a lot to thank for, it worries me thinking what trouble she's getting herself into again, but she's Hawke, she'll be fine, like always.
