CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Basic Look
With a complexion that is typical for Mages who spend their lives in a Circle, Charlise's pale skin compliments her black hair which is predominantly straight but curves into her face a little though part of her hair is sometimes in a couple of plaits with two going back into an intricate design at the back of her head, these days she just plaits her whole hair before bunning it up.
Her silvery grey eyes always sparkle with compassion and curiosity, but they do flash with an angry spark, especially at boys/men who comment on her... Physique, for that is not her highlight. Despite that, her legs are slightly longer than most and her curves are accented by her robes, a fact that she does not like as a female Mage's curves is always the butt of every joke within the Circle. And hers are no different with her hourglass figure which fills her robes and smoothly curves inwards between her hips and her bust to frame her waist.
Her physique she keeps quite trim through dance which she picked up as a child from the other girls and has continued with it for the footwork helps with dodging. The one slight problem that she has is the scar on her back which she got during the Battle of Denerim which runs diagonally from where her left shoulder joins the neck to the bottom of right shoulder blade. She wears this with some pride as when she received it, she saved a friend's life and was helping to defeat the Darkspawn.
Her face is quite soft to look at with the slight downward curve of her nose and her chin just barely pointed to stop her face from being completely round, it almost seems aristocratic but it is always tuned down when her hair hides away the sides of her face and her somewhat small ears, causing her to look youthful. She was always told that she seemed like an echo of Wynne's younger self, but she's never listened: She has pictures of Wynne when she was younger and she doesn't think she is as beautiful as Wynne at any age.
Personality: A kind and warm person, Charlise somehow manages to be a maternal figure within the Circle and is a voice of wisdom and reason despite her youth as a member of the Aequitarian Fraternity. Curiosity is the natural part of being a Mage and sometimes Charlise will easily be swept away by History, Language, Magic or Art. Her voice echoes her wisdom and kindness, but her singing emphasises her maternal warmth and sweetness despite it being quite quiet.
Despite being sometimes described as a gentle flower, Charlise can easily become a force to be reckoned with if anyone who she cares for is threatened, for she is very protective and is not afraid to get down and dirty.
Although somewhat happy with being a Mage, Charlise abhors Blood Magic, especially after what Uldred did to her home which happened soon before her Harrowing. But that moment gave her confidence in herself and gave her true purpose and the will to fight.
HISTORY
Charlise was born in the Ferelden Circle Tower though her parents were always an unknown; but according to her file she was born early and was very weak, to the point where it was not expected that she would survive the night. Either through sheer will, or the Maker's intervention; she did and so was continued to live and grow in the Ferelden Circle of Magi where she lived for many years, predominantly under the tutelage and caring eyes of Wynne who she saw as a Mother figure and was pretty much metaphorically accepted as one by the older Mage.
How she came to be so cared for was a mystery to many at the Circle, but it was always assumed with the first meeting where Charlise was trying to light a fire as a child though it spread out of control and almost engulfed the girl and the Library before Wynne stepped in and stopped the fire and then saw to the very terrified and apologetic young dancer. Since then, Charlise began to help in the Infirmary and learned some of the skills of Healing under Wynne, strengthening their bond till Charlise was named as one of Wynne's Apprentices and the relationship deepened.
When the Fifth Blight hit the land, Charlise was still waiting for her Harrowing when her Mentor left for Ostagar but was surprised by her swift return as she bore grave news. But then, Uldred happened; scared but willing to fight, Charlise took up her Staff to help protect her home and the children with the others before watching her beloved Mentor leave with the Warden. Thankfully, the two kept in relative touch as Charlise rebuilt the Tower and passed her Harrowing before signing up to help in the Battle of Denerim and then beginning to train in basic sword fighting, just in case.
It was hard for her to take part in such a feat; for it was the first time she left the Tower, let alone her first Battle but she strove through it, helping out the civilians to get and then healing her comrades in arms as they all helped the Warden to get to Fort Drakon by fighting through the Darkspawn. Despite the warnings of the older Mages to stay out of the fight, Charlise always went forwards to drag her friends away from the Darkspawn before the Taint could get into their system; though a couple of times this almost spelled her own downfall, but there was always someone who watched her back; save for one attack where a Darkspawn Long-Sword slashed into her back as she healed a friend of hers. The scar remains to this day but she remained untainted and her scar, she bears with pride.
In the years that followed, Charlise grew in Magical prowess and as a woman (though without any romantic knots or thoughts) as they rebuilt the Circle and resumed their normalities till the War was announced, along with Wynne's death, which she heard from an anonymous letter written by a friend of Wynne's, who it was, the letter did not say. Grief struck Charlise hard in her heart and her soul as her Brothers and Sisters split off in many directions whilst Charlise was left behind; eventually picking herself up, Charlise has since become a stronger woman and wanders towards Andoral's Reach to help and heal, as Wynne would want her to.
