The Army of Ferelden
The army of Ferelden is as stubborn as a mabari, and just as good to have at your side. Its number fluxes quite a bit, depending on the situation, but some things remain constant. There is a small, yet highly competent and professional, Royal Army, which travels wherever in Ferelden it is needed. Each of the major cities, such as Denerim and Redcliffe, have large standing armies of their own to both defend the city and respond rapidly to situations in force. Each of the smaller, local banns usually have small forces themselves, and in times of crises join up with larger city armies. These armies all fall under the umbrella of the Royal Army only in times of crises.
At the time of writing, (After arcill has sacked the city of Gwaren), these are the numbers of the armies:
1) The Royal Army: The army at the direct command of the King (or queen) on a constant basis. Normally, they number 60,000 men and women.
