Weather girl The skies lit up briefly with a flash and white, jagged scars raining down to the earth in bright blows. Rain ravaged the lands, fierce and unyielding over the high spire that was the circle tower. Blue eyes, held closed, peered through the darkness of the cloud cover toward the tower. Green hood hung low over her face but was unable to prevent the rain from attacking her pale, slightly flushed face the storm would soon blow over, she hoped, for this weather never made for good travels. For now she would sit under cover of a small tent who's tiny holes let in the weather. We really needed a new one.
See glanced down to the pile of ash where her fire had been. The weather had struck suddenly, stopping her travels. It was a lonely life, hers, but she was long used to it. He told herself so, anyway. Eyes glimpse up toward the tower and she could take solace in the fact she was at least free and not stuck within those walls with the others, though from what she heard the circle was falling. Honestly she was so out of the loop there could be another blight and she wouldn't have known about it but for the occasional dark spawn attack. A light smirk raised the corner of her lips at the idea and with a slight yawn and a grumble of an empty stomach, she turned and slipped into the tent.
The night was rough. She hardly slept with the wind attacking he thin sheets that attempted to protect her but the tight knots she had ties to the roots of trees kept it firmly over her head. The rain soon subsided, though, and eventually she managed to slip away fr but a few hours. Now, daylight was forming slowly over the horizon and a thin strand of light was slowly slinking through the slightly open entrance and sliding over the pale skin of the elven woman's face. She frowned, feeling the welcome warmth but tightening her lids as the light attempted to penetrate her eyes. She did not wish to rise, but Templars were rife in these parts surely. She had to move, though her sword and shield easily made for a good lie. Her silver tongue and skills with a sword could not be seen through easily.
Rising, she reluctantly say up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Her clothes were sodden but she cared little. Stripping the top layer, leaving a longer shirt on because she respected the art of modesty, she hung her wet garments on tree branches and set about lighting a fire to at least warm herself and cook some of the mutton she could not have the night previous.
Weather girl, where's your forecast? Set the signal, raining fire from the angels Through the eye of a needle

Peering up from beneath the sodden dark blue hood Azrael sighed to himself as he saw the first cracks of daylight on the horizon. Travelling at night was usually kind of enjoyable- just not when the entire sky seems to empty over you. Removing tue cloak he slung it over his shoulder, revealing the drakeskin armour beneath, it's surface glistening where water had soaked through to it. He only hoped that the rest of his journey would be drier. Trudging on he reached lake Calenhad shortly and looked around silently, searching for a good spot to take a break. It was then that he noticed the small tent a short way ahead. He doubted that it was a bandit though he stayed on his guard. Catching sight of the young elven woman he slipped the dragon tooth knife back into the concealed sheath on his belt and approached. Perhaps if she was travelling the same way they could travel together. It would certainly be better than going alone. Moving slowly and keeping his hands in plain sight he walked up towards her. "Well well, what have we here?" He smiled cheerfully in spite of how tired he was. She was certainly good looking. He smiled to himself, before the blight he probably would have started trying to bed her already. How times had changed. With the friendly smile still on his face he extended his right hand, his left sweeping a soaked lock of his pale blonde hair away from his face. "Name's Azrael by the way." His eyes flicked to the abandoned tower for a moment. He'd need to stop there on his way back. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you headed?"

The wind blew harshly upon the sodden clothes casing them to wave feebly on the branches. Her calloused hands worked hard at the flint and rock as she crouched low over the kindling. It was wet, but there was nothing dry to be found after the storm and as she worked at trying to make the fire she found herself becoming more and more angry at herself, at the weather, at everything. Her fingers were sore and she found herself shivering under the in layer of dry clothing she had managed to save from the rains. Maybe she could kill a wolf or a deer and get some skins. That would be much better.
Well, well, what have we got here? Terra was too distracted by her failing fire and the growling of her stomach to notice the approach of another person, so when the voice arose she jumped. Panicking for a second, she grabbed the flint tightly as a makeshift weapon - its point was sharp enou to inflict damage, though against an armed bandit, it was more sensible to flee and give up her soaked belongings. Luckily for her, when her narrowed eyes found his figure approaching, he was holding out his unarmed hands and looked pretty much harmless.
That was not to be trusted, of corse. He was a human and though he approached with ease and with his weapons safety away she could never trust a stranger. On edge, she slowly got to her feet, hands still clutching the flint in one hand, kindling in the other. He introduced himself as Azreal. His blond hair stuck to his face in rats tails as hers did and His frame was tall and lean. He had an odd tattoo upon one side of his face and she found herself staring at it for a moment. How curious. "Terra," She responded simply for a moment, hesitating. She needed fire or food and though she distrusted strangers, he could help her. Not to mention he wasn't bad looking for a human. Not bad at all. Maybe she should ask for help? Or would that be admitting defeat? She had lived alone for years now and a simply storm could throw her off, how pathetic. Luckily for her she didn't have to lose face as he spoke up, asking her where she was headed. "Nowhere. Anywhere. Why?" She replied with a shrug as she slowly returned to trying to make her fire and trying to force herself to relax. It didn't work and she found herself glancing up at him, apprehensive. "Can you make fires? It's pissing me off now." She asked, throwing the flint to the side, annoyed. Once it left her hand, however, she felt oddly unprotected. Glancing at her hands, she saw spots of blood forming on her fingertips where the rock had scratched her. No matter, she was long since used to it.

Wincing slightly as he saw the elf jump Azrael allowed his hand to drop. Clearly she wasn't used to people like him. At least she gave him her name. "A pleasure to meet you lady Terra." He smiled, attempting to reduce the tension. He then considered her answer to her question with a cocked head. "Nowhere yet anywhere?" He mused, scratching his chin. "I was simply wondering if you wanted a travelling partner is all." He shrugged as he watched her struggling to build a fire. She seemed to be sonewhat nervous even as she asked for his help. "Well, I'm not the best but I'll certainly try." He smiled as he picked the discarded flint back up. It was then that he noticed her shivering. Without another word he removed his drakeskin jacket and held it out towards her, leaving a dark silk undershirt covering his upper body. "You look cold." He explained simply, looking into her eyes.

He address her as lady Terra. Lady! She raised a single eyebrow, questioning him. She was no lady and she had never been addressed as such. She wasn't sure if it was human sarcasm directed to her pointed ears or genuine courtesy. She decided to take it as the latter and not judge a man based on his species. She hated when people did that to her, and he seemed friendly enough. It didn't mean she would trust him, of corse, but she had been alone for quite some time so company was probably going to be healthy for her. Unless it ended with a sword in her back. Expect the unexpected and all that jazz.
His head cocked to the side at her statement and she felt her lips twitch into a faint smile. He suggested travelling together and she shrugged. "I don't suppose I would be a good companion. Anyway, where are you going?" It was not a refusal, more like questioning her own worth. Inside, her head was telling her it might be a good idea to travel with this man, but of corse to keep her sword close by. Maybe he had better stuff to eat or money for an inn? She hadn't slept in a comfy bed in...well...forever.
He took the flint to attempt a fire and she watched his hands work. Unexpectedly, thought, he did not instantly set about making the fire. Instead, he shrugged off his jacket which appeared to be dragon skin of some sort, and held it out to her. Confused and a little dumbfounded by his kindness, she stared at the jacket for a long moment. It was true, she was frozen in her long thin shirt that nicely covered her body, hanging to above her knees, and her garments were soaked from the frailty of her tent the night before, but she found it hard to take it. Slowly she reached out and accepted his offer, slipping it on. The material was thick and heavy on her shoulders, but warm. "Won't you get cold?" She questioned, concerned for the blond human. She never was good at saying thankyou. Too long spent alone, probably, for simple spoken gestures.

Barely supressing a smile at Terra's reaction to what he called her Azrael squatted down next to the wood and examined it. It was slightly damp but with a little extra effort he should be able to get it going. "I'm sure you'll make a perfectly good companion, easily better than my current companions. As to where I'm going, I'm currently travelling from redcliffe to highever, from there Kirkwall to help my brother on some sort of diplomatic bronto shit." He shrugged at the last, he hadn't been told abything beyond the explanation that he himself had just given. Then he finally looked up for a moment and smiled, enjoying the sight of the smaller elf in his tailored armour. "Nah, I'll be fine, it's one of the benefits of growing up near the frostbacks I guess." With one more strike he finally got lucky and the tinder caught. Thankfully that provided enough of a distraction that he was able to resist what he had considered saying next. "Aha! Excellent!" He exclaimed, leaning in a little closer to breathe out on the glowing wood, causing the flames to gently grow. Once he was sure that the fire could sustain itself he rocked backwards and sat down on the damp grass. "So, where abouts are you from Terra?"

She snuggled into the warm, thick material gladly. Wrapping her asthma around her chest, mane of hair wildly spilling over the back of the drake skin armour, she found herself warmer than usual and she was grateful for it. Terra loved the freedom of living alone in the wilds but even she could admit it was not healthy living purely off the earth. She had little money and any money she did have was earned by stealing and selling anything she salvaged. Her only real possessions of worth were her fathers old sword and shield, but she could never sell those as hard as life was.
Her viridian eyes were watching his hands closely. His fingers worked skilfully with the flint. His spoke piped up, stating she would probably be better than his current companions. A little taken aback, she glanced up nervously but saw nobody. "Your other companions ghosts? Or did you tire of them." She questioned, though she was only teasing him. A playful smirk settled on her lips as she began to relax slightly. Her eyes still eyed the flint, however.
He stated where his travels would take him. First to Highever, then to Kirkwall. Terra had been to Highever - good place to steal pretty trinkets - but never the city of chains. She wasn't eager to visit an place rife with Templars. "I wouldn't mind visiting Highever. I don't exactly have anywhere better to be." She half joked with the hint of a smile.
He smile grew brighter when the fire sparked and finally caught alight. She grinned widely. "Finally!" She exclaimed, jumping to her feet to scrabble through her things. She returned quickly with two small pieces of mutton. Spearing them on a sturdy stick, she propped them over the fire. "Have you eaten? I only have this to offer." In her delig at the fire and the warmth of the drakeskin, she found herself more relaxed than normal. Sorelaxed, in fact, that when he asked where she was from she didn't find herself thinking about her father. Instead, her smile remained and she glanced upset him, meeting his eyes. "Denerim. I left a few years ago, never went back." He had mentioned the cold not bothering him, since he was from new the frostback mountains. She had never ventured there. "Whats it like there? Frostback I mean. Can't be many elves there, I don't imagine." She asked, poking the meat with a twig impatiently.

Returning Terra's smirk Azrael look at her wickedly. "A mix of both naturally." He winked, sitting back on his haunches. It was nice seeing someone else for the first time since he started on the journey back from Redcliffe and his luck was in fine form today. When he came out of his thoughts he realised that he was being offered some food. "No thank you. I don't mean to impose and if you don't have much to spare then I would prefer that you keep what you have for yourself." He replied kindly, leaning back and settling down for the moment as he processed the information that he had been given. "There are a few elves back home, not as many as Denerim or Highever but then we don't have an alienage. I'd be happy to show you if you want, I don't need to be on that boat for another week." He mused quietly as he looked up at her. "You could join me on the journey to Highever as well if you wish." Tailing off he became silent for a moment, enjoying the sunrise.

She had to hand it to the guy. He was charming. She smirked back, shaking her head in mock pity for his apparently dead or lost companions. She was sure he was joking. Probably. She prodded the meat as it cooked slowly, inwardly begging it to speed up. Her stomach was growling with inpatience. the human declined th meal and she shrugged. His choice, she wouldn't make him eat it. He was probably more used to much nicer meals anyway. Still, she felt bad she had nothing better to offer. "Well the offers there. I hunt for food so it's no trouble." She told him. Her hunting skills were decent since she had been alone for many years in the woods, but she tended to steal most of her food. She was hardly going to admit that, though. She didn't need him thinking bad of her, or worse - feeling sorry for her. She hated pity.
The news that elves lived in the Frostback mountains was a surprise to her. He said there were no alienages so there were only a few elves there, but the lack of an alienage sounded just how everywhere should be. She smiled at his offer. She actually would like to visit the mountains, but she doubted she would last in the snow. She snuggled into the leather armour as she shivered just thinking about it. "I think I'd freeze to death. Is it pretty?" She asked, mostly making small talk. She wasn't used to this sort of interaction. As for traveling to Highever, she knew the place was full of Nobles just asking to be robbed. Hell yeah she wanted to visit. "Highever sounds good. I haven't been in some time. Sure, I'll go. I don't hae anywhere better to be." She said with a smile, glancing up a the rising sun. There was a moment of silence as the sky faded from navy blue to pink and orange.

Azrael silently considered Terra's words on the food. He couldn't deny that he was a little hungry and it did look good right now... but if it was all the food she had for now... but then would it look impolite if he didn't? "Well... maybe a little then." He conceded, staring dimly into the fire as he was asked about the mountains. "Heh, I could describe it in song but I doubt there's enough time today." He chuckled, turning his gaze north-east for a moment. "It's... not the safest place by far, we got dragons, bandits and the occasional Red Lion but the crisp white snow near the peaks and the amazing glacial lakes kinda make up for it you know?" He smiled at the thought. "For all it's flaws I wouldn't trade it for all the gold and jewels in the world." Slowly he edged closer to the elf. "Even Highever doesn't compare." He was the most relaxed he had been since starting the journey. "Of course, even predators are part of what makes it great," He nodded at the jacket. "That for example was made from the skin of the first drake that I killed, it's kind of a family tradition." He remembered the hunt fondly, he was only sixteen at the time yet brought down the drake with no assistance. "He put up a good fight." Falling silent he stared into the flames once more. "No doubt you've seen some interesting stuff on the road yourself though eh?"

She glanced sideways at the human through strands of icy blond hair. He seemed to eye the food with hunger and she smirked slightly to herself. She would about to just insist he join her in a small meal and force the food down his throat - it was better than letting him go so hungry he went cannibal on her - but he decided finally to accept her offer with a meek voice. She grinned. Silly humans. They were odd. Then again, most social interactions nowadays seemed odd to her. Interrupting the brief silence, her stomach groaned loud enough for both to hear. She blushed with a nervous laugh. Hurry up and cook faster, she thought to the meat still propped up on sticks. She hoped her mental urging would help, though she knew watching it would only make it take longer.
He mentioned describing his home in song and she grinned. She'd like to hear that one day. He described the mountains wonderfully even without music, however - full of danger, excitement and beauty. She found herself day dreaming about the place. Despite the cold, it sounded like somewhere she would like to visit one day. She noticed him edge closer but said nothing, for she was too enraptured in his tale about the drake. "Sounds like a good tradition - pit your kids against a drake and hope for the best." She laughed, teasing. He asked if she had seen anything interesting or exciting and she shrugged. She had seen many things, but nothing a human would find interesting. She had simply survived. "You would think I had, but most of my stories involve angry humans and the occasional wolf pack. Ive never done anything of worth, I guess. I just... Wander around. It's lonely, but I'm free." Her voice trailed off. He wouldn't know exactly what she ment but her eyes glanced upset the tower. Luckily for her, her sword and shield disguised what she really was. He would probably just assume she was an ex elven slave or something. Let him believe it. She wouldn't admit the truth to anyone.

Azrael failed to suppress a small chuckle as Terra's stomach growled. "Heh, sounds like someone's hungry." He joked in an almost sing song tone, poking the offending body part lightly, a wicked smile on his face. He laughed a little harder at her view on his family tradition. "Not so much pit your kids against a dragon as being refused permission to wear dragon based armour until you've killed one, I just happened to want to do it a little earlier than usual... most do it in their early twenties." He tailed off as he was reminded of the second set that had been crafted from the same skin as his own armour. Then he was jolted back out of his daydream as Terra started speaking again. "Nothing exciting? Really? Or maybe something you'd rather I didn't know, how mysterious." He half-joked with a mock pout. Then he noticed eyes gazing up at the tower. "Did you have family in there? I had two brothers, one mage, one became a tenplar to watch over him." He shook his head clear for a moment. "Still, that's the key word. Free." He smiled, one hand reaching into the inside pocket of his cloak and withdrawing a hip-flask. "Here's to freedom and flying high on the wind." He took a swig of the Antivan brandy and held the flask out, offering it to his new friend.
