CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Just like her name, her hair is the color of fire, a bright vibrant red that curls to the middle of her jawline. Fine bangs cover her forehead that line along the top of her brow-line. She has bright amber eyes that are the shape of almonds, and pale skin, both complimenting her red mane. She is not very large, however, standing at only 5 feet and 4 inches with a slender figure.
Personality: For most of her life, Ember could have been considered your average "good girl". Always following the rules, and doing what she was told with no questions asked. This was evident by her time in the Circle. She holds loyalty with high importance. Not only was she loyal to the Circle, but she was with Irving as well. You would have to chop her head off before she'd do a thing to betray not only his trust, but the trust in her peers as well.
Her intelligence has also been noteworthy as well. Her skills with magic throughout her years growing up at the Circle, didn't go unnoticed by her teachers. She wasn't a prodigy, by no means, but she showed great skill and knowledge in her "gift" as she aged; even as much as aspiring to one day become a Senior Enchanter, or even, a First Enchanter.
After the tragic events with Uldrid, the Abominations, and Andrew, she began to change and hasn't been the same since. Her biggest weakness in her life is Love. Her attitude and outlook on life started to become dark. She began to turn her back on the tower and those inside it. Going from someone who believed in loyalty and the Circle, to someone who believed in independence and complete freedom.
HISTORY
Ember was born in the month of Solis to Honoria and Cato, in the "Golden City", Minrathous. Not even a year after her birth, however, the impending Qunari invasion on the coasts of Tevinter drove the three out of the country; leaving behind her 18 year old brother who chose to stay as he was devoted to the Imperial Chantry. They eventually landed in Ferelden where they hoped to start a new life with a perfect family of 3--at least for a little while. 6 years later, however, everything changed. Honoria and Cato were finally confronted by a little girl who started to show the signs of a "gift" that they never imagined she'd have. They always knew there was a possibility, as their son, Octavius, was a mage himself; an Apprentice Magister. And then there was Cato's mother, Valentina, who also lived up to becoming a Magister in the Imperium. They believed Octavius being one himself was far off, but they never believed that their second child would become one as well. Despite their many pleads and prayers, she was hauled off to the Circle of Magi in Lake Calenhad where they feared they'd never see their daughter again.
From day one of entering her new home, Ember was devoted to her new "family". She missed her parents, of course, but with starting out in the Circle at such a young age, it didn't take long for her to grow attached. Over the next few years, she began to look up to First Enchanter Irving as a father of her own; looking up to him as an idol, of sorts. He was everything she aspired to be: wise, loyal, intelligent, all the important aspects she believed a person should hold. Despite the very few other mages in the Circle who came and went, she never once dreamed of trying to leave the only place she considered home.
Her devotion went farther than just the Circle though. His name was Andrew, came barging through those great doors with two Templars under his arms. His bright blue eyes stared up at old man Irving with shame and disgust, probably shouting a thousand curses at him inside his mind for taking him away from his home. A part of her didn't know what it was about the boy that entranced her, everyone else around them said that she could do better. From the start they were very close, but as they grew older things started to blossom between them. He was a rebel and she was devoted circle mage, a smart girl who did well in her lessons; complete opposites, but none of those words separated the two. Only mages close to them knew about the relationship, but they knew better than to make it obvious to the Templars. They knew what would happen if they found out. It was known by all mages that love was near impossible in the Circle, but such an emotion is inevitable in such a place. Ember knew that such a powerful emotion in the wrong hands could prove dangerous, who knew how the Templars would use it against them; against Andrew. But it didn't stop her. Neither of the two let anything slip between them.
Her strong willed mind and skill didn't go unnoticed either, when at the age of 18 she was finally called to do her Harrowing. It was something she had waited for, for a long time. Even Andrew hadn't been called to do his yet, but he figured it was for the better anyways. She was never scared either. The second she entered the Harrowing Chamber with the First Enchanter and Gregoir, laying her eyes on the Lyrium, she had the confidence she needed to know that she was going succeed. And succeed she did. Waking up in her bed with Andrew's blue eyes staring down at her. She practically ran through the halls to meet Irving, welcomed to the Circle as an official Mage. She wore those yellow robes with pride, as to her they didn't just mean she was another Circle Mage, but they symbolized just how strong and brave she was. How capable and confident she was. Proof that magic could be for good, and not only for the bad.
That same year, everything changed. Not only was word spreading inside the Tower about the impending Blight, but word of the forbidden school of magic was too: Blood Magic. She didn't know all of the complete details, only what well-known Circle Mage, Niall, spoke of to her. How he suspected of possible blood magic corruption inside the Circle. She didn't believe him, until the day she finally witnessed her first Abomination. The same night, the whole tower was practically swarming with them; dozens of mages turned to complete evil. Her and Andrew found safety with some others, including a couple other Senior Enchanters. At this point, it only seemed that the last two Grey Wardens could save them from the Annulment called down on the tower.
After Irving was saved and the broken tower recovered, it felt like it wasn't too soon after that the supposed Blight ravished the land. The Hero of Ferelden was name, saving the country--and world--and it was time for the Circle to pick up the pieces once again; Ember right behind them to help what needed to be restored. It wasn't until that very day that Andrew finally spoke of how corrupt the Circle was . How it wasn't right for them to be locked up in such a place. She always knew that he wasn't the fondest of the Circle, but now he was actually talking of escaping. Ember hoped it was all a nightmare, he never let up, he never stopped. He begged and begged for her to come with him, trying to convince her that they could start a new life outside the Circle, but she never complied. She loved him, but she loved her home as well. This was her life and she couldn't picture herself anywhere else. He could, and it drove them apart. She stood in her chambers practically in tears as she knew it was happening. She didn't want to know when how or even the outcome of his attempt, but she never heard from him again afterwards. The Templars soon after spoke of a missing mage, while injured Templars wobbled through the doors speaking of a mage with blazing hands.
There were times after that day that she contemplated leaving, wanting to be with him, but she never went through with it. There was a point she literally stood and stared at the those great doors for minutes on end, until one of friends came up behind and dragged her away. She could only stay in her chamber and pray every night that he was out of harms way. She tried her best to not let the emotions get in the way of her studies and life, but there were very few who started to notice some difference in her attitude and behavior. A Mage like her, considering the collapse of the Circle to be a miracle from the Maker? Absurd! But she did. Why she decided to stay in Ferelden and not go with the rest? It's the same question she asks herself every night. Is it because of Andrew? Maybe. Is it because she still feels a connection to her fallen home? Maybe. But the only thing on her mind at this point is staying alive.

"Please. You can't do this! You're just upset, like all of us. Scared. It'll pass," she tried hard to keep a single tear from falling down her cheek, but the second she looked up into his eyes, her composure was gone. Half of her didn't even believe what she was saying. Her friends around her told her something like this would happen one day. He wasn't a mage who could be controlled. He was never a true mage of the Circle. She knew of the resentment that he held for the place the second he walked in through those doors years ago, but she convinced herself that he could change; he would change.
"Come with me, Ember. You know it would be better. You can't honestly sit there and say you'd rather be locked up in here for the rest of your life!" She wanted to, she really did. If only it were that easy. She knew the Circle longer than she practically knew herself. This place was all she ever knew, as well as the people inside it. They were right, they were opposites. He craved freedom, and she craved safety and family. What was the world even like on the outside? She barely remembered her life from before, barely remembered the faces of the two she once called Mom and Dad.
"I-I'll tell Irving!" At this point, she was willing to say or do anything possible to keep him from leaving, but she knew she never would do such a thing. She could never tell him that because it would surely cost him his humanity. They'd make him Tranquil and all hope would be lost forever.
"No you won't." The words stung. It was all he said before taking his hand off her arm and than raising himself to his feet; giving her a single light kiss on the cheek as she looked down at her lap in tears, before turning his back and leaving the chamber. Leaving her to wallow in her sorrows and fears. Her hands trembled, her pale thin fingers holding the damp handkerchief in her lap. She wanted to chase after him, she even felt a unknown force practically pulling at her, but she didn't budge. Her whole body ached with a single move she just wanted to lie down and fall into a deep sleep for the rest of her life. Hoping to either wake up and this would be a nightmare, or never wake up at all. She couldn only sit their and pray that she'd hear the door creak open and he'd come tumbling inside with a million apologies. It was too much to hope for, she guessed, as her eyelids eventually grew heavy and sore before she slowly drifted off to sleep.
