CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance:
Like all most of her people, Corine is of a short build with slightly longer limps. Measured to be five feet and two inch through, she is the shortest one of the adults in her family. The most noticeable feature about her, is her ears; Much like her grandmother and mother, Corine was born with ears shorter than those of other elves, which lead to her nickname of "dwarf-ears".
In her younger days, Corine was considered a beauty, her sky blue eyes and chestnut brown hair blending well. She was "gifted" the build of her mother, giving her a slim waist while retaining her curved figure.
Today, traces of her beauty can still be seen, but it is usually covered by her armor. She tries to keep her hair from growing long, but with the growing dangers, it has grown to her shoulders. Its never unruly, but with her fingers as her only brush, its often quite fuzzy at the front, random fringes of hair falling over her eyes.
When she isen`t wearing her armor, she wears a thigh-long light purple dress, with short sleeves that barely covers the shoulders. She also wears a dark blue scarf, hiding the V cut of the dress, as well as her scars She also wears purple trousers, which is a few shades darker than the dress. And at last, she also wears pieces of her leather armor; the gauntlets, boots and the wrap-around belt in which she keeps her daggers tied to.
Personality:
Having been on run since she was born, Corine has taught herself to look at the bright sides of life. This means she always can be found with her trademark smirk, where other people would find no hope. And for those with no hope, she is there to take their hand and cheer them up. It may sound like she is just babbling sometimes, a person who dosen`t take anything serious, but if you listen closely, you can hear that it is not so. Even when she is cracking jokes, there is a sense of maturity to her voice and choice of words; A woman who, despite her young age, has experienced more than most.
Underneath the caring and kind-hearted facade, lies a smart woman. Just not smart, but very smart. There are many books she hasen`t read, and she only knows very little of the maker`s lore, but she could care less about that. No, what she is smart on is people; The way a body moves when its nervous, how the choice of words effects the conversation, and even where their eyes are looking; No twitch or slur of words escapes her sharp senses, making it easy for her to penetrate even the strongest defenses, and help people with their problems...
And when combined with a silvery tongue, it makes a dangerous weapon. Often being low on coin, and having to remove your tracks, Corine`s skills in manipulation are often used. They are rarely put to the test through, as her victims usually are...simple minded; Having a merchant to give her discount, convincing her son that everything will be alright. She has never liked lying to others, but she does find a guilty pleasure when she finds an interesting mind to peek into; and if the target manages to resist her first attempts...well, that just makes the game more interesting.
Even through Corine isen`t a mage, she has always lived her life as one; never staying in the same place too long, having to scout for templars before you turn a corner. And with her son being a mage, you would think that this protective mother hated the templars, and would`t hesitate to kill them on the spot...well, it isen`t like that. Despite the constant warnings from the mages in her family, Corine has never seen the templars as "ruthless monsters", but rather people who does their job. She is fully aware that there are templars who matches the "monster" descriptions she had been given as a child, but having seen, and sometimes even talked to templars, the majority seemed like reasonable people, despite the on-going wars.
This open-minded approach also applies when it comes to other races, humans especially. As a child she saw her fellow elfs get treated like trash, and her father would always tell her stories about humans who abducted elven children while they slept. Despite the fear it invoked, it helped her to see humans differently as she grew older. Just like the templars, each human was different; one could be old and cranky, while another could be young and handsome. So, unlike the majority of her race, she isen`t hostile towards humans. She also address them by name, rather than calling them "Shemlen" (unless she gets really angry)
It takes a lot to anger Corine, but if any threat is made towards friends, family or even innocent people, she won`t hesitate to draw blood. And when Corine stops restraining herself, its a good idea to prepare for a tough fight; Putting her keen senses to work, Corine "dances" around her opponent, reading their movements by watching their movements. The fights mostly ends with her putting an arrow in their knee (get it? xD), or holding a knife to the throat...but other times it ends with her stabbing the victim repeatable, if she gets angry enough.
The last thing to note is her rather strange relationship with romance. She still harbors feelings for the human noble, thinking of him every time she puts on the armor. In the past years the feelings have lessen severely through, becoming distant memories of better times. Like many she does become lonely now and then, and a few times a year she does allow herself to have a little "fun". She never goes the whole way through, just wanting to forget the loneliness a little, even if it means disappointing the other person. She would never draft someone into her fast-paced world, but waking up with your beloved beside you, is a thing she has started to miss more and more..
HISTORY
Born in the deepest parts of the Denerim alienage, Corine`s birth brought more worry than happiness. With both of her grandparents being mages, and her mother as well, they feared that the child would become one also. So in the first years of her childhood, her family kept a close eye on her, watching for even the smallest of signs.
Corine, to young to understand the odd behavior of her parents, simply enjoyed her life like any child would; playing with the other children, helping in the local store, and just enjoying life in general. After five years through, her "normal" life ended. With the templars asking questions, her family decided that it was time to move , and shortly after her birthday, they escaped the city.
For the next ten years, they stayed at many different alienages. To the relief of her entire family, Corine never showed any sign of magi. With that knowledge, her father, and only other non-mage in the family, tried to teach her the way of a warrior. Being to small to carry the heavy blades, Corine would use knifes when sparring with her father, and by the time she was strong enough to lift a sword, she had gotten fond of using the smaller blades.
Some years later, rumors of darkspawn sightings began to spread. Knowing they never would make it on their own, the family joined a caravan of traveling merchants, which would be traveling along the west coast to avoid the horde. Corine and her family quickly settled in, Corine and her dad working as protection for the merchants. The threats they had to deal with were relatively small, but each fight helped Corine to sharpen her skills as a rouge.
One day the caravan was joined by a human, or more specific, a human noble. It didn`t take long for Corine and him to notice the other, and soon they began to see each-other in secret. And before her family had time to stop it, Corine gave birth to a son, who she named Amon after her great-great grandfather. Her family was against her keeping the child, but Corine, stubborn as ever, refused to give it up. This created a rift between her and the family, and Corine spend most of her awake hours with the human noble, the two of them raising Amon the best they could.
One day, strange things began to happen in the merchant traders camp; small fires, the firewood to the forge being completely encased in ice. These mysterious events continued unhindered, but eventually they found out that it was the three-year old Amon. Upon hearing these news, Corine`s family began to open up to the child, her grandfather even offering to teach the him. With her family opening up to Amon, Corine took up the bow and began to train Archer, wanting to expand on her combat abilities.
And then, an early morning four years later, it all came crashing down.
The templars came from every side, surrounding the rather large camp. They tore down the tents, and made it clear that the punishment for hiding mages, would either be prison or death. Having seen the templars early on, Corine and her family had managed to creep past most of them, but they were eventually spotted. One of the templars, who looked like a captain, stepped forward and quickly identified them as mages. Corine`s mother began to scream, yelling at them to keep away from her family. This only made the situation worse through, as they drew their blades, moving closer and closer. In a flash, Corine`s mother drew a knife and slit her wrists, the blood spilling down her nimble fingers. Yelling for them to run, she spread out her arms, knocking the majority of the templars down.
Clutching Amon to her chest, Corine fled into the forest with the rest of her family, to afraid to look back. They didn`t stop running until hours later, taking shelter in a damp cave. To her horror, Corine saw that her grandmother wasen`t with them, meaning that the templars had caught her as well. After spending the evening in the cave, they began to travel down south, keeping off the roads the best they could...
Now, three years later, Corine and her family have arrived in the free marches, after barely escaping the templars at the port. Taking a big risk, Corine hopes to put some distance between her family and the templars, by fleeing to Kirkwall. She knows that it easily can backfire, but who would think that mages would flee to a city ruled by templars?

After sticking mostly to bleach/naruto/your average anime site, I began to get into other genre`s and...well here I am < 3.

Note; Not always gonna be this long xD
Her fingers tighten on the handle of the door, her heart beating increasing. She hated strangers, and this was no exception. By the way he was dressed, there was a chance he was one of father`s "penguin" friends. Always dressed in suits, always rambling on and on and ON about how fun that trip to New York was. If he was let in, she was gonna suffer under their banter for hours, and maybe they would drink and get drunk. God forbid her father got drunk. He was hard enough to tolerate sober, how could she survive with him singing his ramblings? She was just about to smack the door into his face, her passive anger stronger than the will to be polite, when she spotted the doll.
"Yes I do..". Like a spring slowly releasing after much tension, her words calmly left her pale lips. Fingers, white from clutching the bronze metal, slowly released the grib. How could she not have seen the doll right away? Had the thought of spending even a second more in her father`s company, really angered her that much? Taking a deep breath, she relaxed her shoulders a little. Her father wasen`t worthy of more thought tonight, since she now had a job to do. "I`m sorry to see him hurt like this...poor thing". Speaking in a motherly fashion, she opened up the door fully. In the light of the hallway, Mei carefully picked the doll out of his grabs, gently coddling it up against her chest like a baby. Her nimble fingers rested on its back and side, her grasp being tight, yet careful to avoid any danger of damaging it.
"Hms, that`s odd...I see no damage". Tilting the head of the doll slightly back, her experienced eye inspected every stitch and limp. It was clearly a cheap production, since the thread used for it was fairly thin, and the stitches had been done by a clumsy machine. She brought the neck of it a little closer to her face, noticing the tag of a store she knew well. This was also when she realized, that she had seen this doll before, through it was hard to tell if it was the same; the one she knew had always been sitting at the window in the store, and haden`t been for sale. With a raised eyebrow, she looked back at the man, taking notice of the injured arm. His shoulders were also hanging, but the weak glint in his eyes indicated he wasen`t tired...an act maybe? Doubting his goals, she decided to let him inside through, closing the door behind him as he entered.
"I can give him a proper look in my workshop. Follow me upstairs please". Despite the friendly tone, her lips remained in their thin line, her face not even moving a little. As if she was a doll herself, the only part of her face that moved was her eye; sometimes looking at him, but mostly focused on the doll. "You look very tired, it is comforting to know that he has a good owner. The stitches are very well made - I assume he was a hand-crafted gift?". As she dug for more information, they reached the top of the stairs. A surpringly soothing hum was coming from the right end of the hallway, her father`s dark voice gently echoing off the bathroom walls. As "pretty" was it was however, it only caused Mei to sharply turn left, heading down the hallway in a quick pace.
