CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance: Briana is considered a natural beauty and is not a fan of makeup, not that she would wear any anyways. Her platinum blonde hair she keeps styled short and layered giving it a windblown effect. Her hazel eyes are framed by dark thick long lashes, making them one of her most noticeable features.
Physically fit and lean, Briana’s athletic build is a result of her vigorous training. Small scars can be found on several places on her body, as expected on a warrior. Her largest scar is across her right rib cage.
Being a Templar she is always seen in her Chantry issued Templar armor when on duty. During her off time she can be seen wearing leather pants and a simple tunic that is cinched to her around her waist by a wide belt. Briana is not flashy and likes to keep things simple.
Personality: Briana is a woman of strict discipline. Everything she does she takes pride in and strives to be the best at. She believes in structure and order. Honesty is a trait that Briana is known for. She will speak her mind and will not lie to preserve anyone's feelings, but is tactful when doing so.
Briana is friendly but not the kind of person who goes out of her way to make friends. She is not shy but prefers to not push her presence onto others. Those who win her friendship will find a loyal friend. Those who betray her cease to exist in her eyes.
She is unwavering in her belief in Andraste. As a Templar she has sworn an oath to the Chantry and follows their decrees. Her stand on mages differs from many other Templars in Kirkwall. Briana's belief is in what the Order was originally established to do. Not to persecute mages but to protect them as well as protect others from them. She does not hate mages or wish ill on them, but believes that they need to be watched in order to keep them safe from themselves and others.
Her hobbies include weapons training, reading old tomes (as she is a history lover), and any outdoor sport as she likes to be active. Standing at long ends in the Gallows can be wearing so she seeks outlets when she is not on duty.
HISTORY
Briana was raised in the Chantry since she was six years of age. Her parents died from illness that spread through her village leaving her and her older siblings orphans. Briana was always a serene child and rarely got into trouble. Not that she didn't get into mischief, she was just careful about not getting caught.
Throughout her childhood, Briana was very studious and loved to learn. She is not easily influenced and her choice to follow the Chant was one she did of her own free will. When she became of age she decided to join the Order of Templars. Briana is driven to do what is right, and she felt the ideals of Templars being protectors suited her.
As she grew within the Order she was bothered how some other Templars abused their power or were misguided by their prejudices against mages. Refusing to let this affect her, Briana does what she can to make sure that all people, mages or no, are not taken advantage of. This does make her popular with some of her Order but she cares not for their opinions of her. This does not mean that she sides with mages, just that she does not tolerate mistreatment of them.
As all Templars are, she has a dependency on lyrium, this being her one true weakness. She has tried to wean off her addiction as she is beginning to realize the lasting effects it has on the older Templars. It is a struggle for her and so far it is a battle she has been unable to win.
Currently she is stationed at the Gallows of Kirkwall and has been since she was knighted. The city had become her home and she was witness to the turmoil and changes that befell the city after the Blight. The influx of refugees that came from Fereldens added to the growing tension in Kirkwall. Briana paid little mind to the prejudices that plagued the city and instead focused on her duty to keep mages safe and others safe from them. An increasingly difficult task considering more and more blood mages were surfacing.
It was during the pursuit of a particular blood mage that Briana came across a city guard, former Ferelden soldier Alexander Salvatore. The argument of jurisdiction ended with him owing her a drink and the two ended up becoming close. The stress of their opposing views on mages is a constant but Alex being able to look past her uniform and seeing her for her has allowed for them to enter into a relationship that continues to grow.
When the Chantry was destroyed and battle ensued Briana ended up taking up arms against the Knight Commander, not in sympathy for the mages but because the Knight had gone insane. This did not change her status and she remains a Templar who now watches over Kirkwall.

Briana walked across the courtyard of the Gallows, her strides were long but slow. Normally a simple walk would not warrant her to pay a great deal of attention to the Templar recruits but since several had gone missing in the previous weeks all eyes were on them.
The investigation into what happened to them had proved to be more difficult than expected. Templars were not trusted In Kirkwall anymore. They faced opposition at every turn. It was frustrating and Briana did her best not to let it affect her. Just as she stepped past the main staircase Briana did a double take as Wilmod, one of the missing recruits strode in from the docks acting as if nothing was amiss. He was dressed in his Templar uniform and even saluted to her as she stared at him.
“Ser Wilmod.” Briana addressed the young man. “You have not reported in days, going on almost a week. I must question you as to your whereabouts.” Her brow came down as her eyes bore into him. There was a look of surprise on the Templar's face then confusion.
“Ser Briana, there must be some mistake. I was seeing to some family matters and I had even requested leave.” There was something about the man’s demeanor that didn’t sit well her. He seemed too calm almost as if he were mocking her.
Briana narrowed her eyes. “I will be following up on your explanation. Until then you are not to leave the Gallows for any reason. You are confined to quarters even.” The recruit looked as if he were going to argue with her, but then nodded and headed toward the barracks. The whispers and mumblings of the other recruits at the sight of Wilmod only reinforced Briana’s suspicions.
It wasn’t until she saw Wilmod disappear into the building did she do an about face and head toward the offices of the ranking Templars. The Knight Vigilant was still recovering from his wounds, besides she didn’t want to take something as trivial as her suspicions to the higher ranks until she had proof. The new Knight Captain was the obvious choice. She was not familiar with him but now would be a good time to introduce herself. Briana had recently been promoted to Knight Lieutenant and she would be working with him more often.
Briana gave a heavy sigh and knocked several times on Knight Captain Cullen’s office. She wasn’t sure if he was there but it was a good place to start.
