Hearing Empress Celene confess her feelings for Alistair as they stood close near the monument, with his hand upon her chest, hearing her heart beating rapidly as she told that she loved him, made Alistair surprised as he also became overjoyed to hear it. Never had he imagined Celene to grow such strong feelings for him that she would tell him she loved him, oh but it was amazing Alistair thought to himself. Having an Orlesian woman such as her, who was beautiful and intelligent was more than he could ask for, and she cared for him, something his current Queen and wife Anora never had done. Seeing her expression as she told her feelings to him made Alistair smile broader as he looked into her blue eyes, and he could see how much she longed for him, how much she wanted him and how much she did not want him to leave north. Was this a sign that she was afraid he would get hurt on the journey, if so he could promise her that he would not get hurt and he would return to her once his mission was over. Alistair looked at her and felt happy, and he could not deny the feelings he too felt for her, even he as of late had become torn by his own feelings and thoughts, having met another woman in the market distract the day before, one whom had ended up a guest at his palace.
Alistair knew very much that Celene was a proper lady and that she was careful about what she said and what she did, as the grand game in Orlais teaches every Orlesians how to play the game of reputation, one which matters more than one’s life and Celene was known to be an expert at it. Who had survived scandals and drama, but who as of late had been banished from her Empire because of her cousin Gespard De Chalons, who had schemed and plotted in advance, turning the people against her through lies. Alistair however was a very patient man, and he was not a man who liked to rush things, he understood why she had to be proper and he liked it as he also was a very much honorable and a proper man himself. Although he could also felt pity for Celene, as she had to leave her dear beloved country, but he was more than happy to have her in Ferelden and he would protect her, no matter what people said. Though even strangely as it was, Anora seemed to agree on keeping the Empress even she felt threatened by her presence, most likely she was kept safe from the Grand Duke in hope that she one day would return the favor.
Leaning in to kiss Celene once again, Alistair replied whispering as he his gaze was fixed upon her and she could clearly see how happy he was to hear her confess what she felt. “Oh Celene, I love you too.” He said with a low voice and then leaned in to kiss her again, this time even more with passion and longing; a great kiss that showed his feelings for her and the moment was perfect. Very much like their first kiss, this was also a good one, one which told her that Alistair loved her too. Slowly withdrawing from her lips again, he opened his eyes and looked at her with a smile, saying. “I have waited for this so long, ever since I first met you I have in truth been drawn toward you and I very much believe everyone has seen it, even I have not dared to confess it, not before now. I was not sure if you felt the same…” He said and carefully he touched Celene`s cheek as he smiled at her, believing himself to be a very lucky man.

She could see his happiness before he said anything. Her heart fluttered with joy. She couldn’t have possibly imagined this would have gone any better than it was right now. Things in her life were crumbling but somehow within the chaos Alistair had been her calm for some time now. Her own cousin wanted her dead, but somehow she still felt safe. The King was the one who was seeing to that and now she knew his feelings a little better. He kissed her again and her heart felt like it stopped. Then came the words that she had been longing to hear. “Oh Celene, I love you too.” She wanted to speak more but he was kissing her again. As his love poured through the kiss she returned it eagerly. Celene couldn’t possibly be happier
“I have waited for this so long, ever since I first met you I have in truth been drawn toward you and I very much believe everyone has seen it, even I have not dared to confess it, not before now. I was not sure if you felt the same…” His hand gently touched her cheek and she flushed. How could her day possibly get any better? ”I’ve been wondering about your feelings myself. It took me a while to open up to you, and now that I have I wouldn’t have it any other way. Somehow we will make this work.” Her face lit up with her smile as she pressed herself closer.
The breeze that blew across the top of the tower was growing colder though it wasn’t unpleasant. Celene knew that she could sit here for the entire night and worry about Alistair leaving but she knew better than to do such things. She would make herself mad if she worried so instead she was going to focus on the positives. Alistair loved her, and although he was going to leave for a little while, but he was going to come back. Once he returned home they could find a way to be together. Somehow they would make it work. Her thoughts turned to the future, what if they married, what if they produced children? The thoughts were enough to make her smile brighter as she gripped his arm affectionately.

Seeing Celene`s expression become more and more filled with happiness and love, made Alistair feel warm inside and he felt lucky. As they stood close watching the view in front of them, he held his arms tightly around her, kissing her forehead before resting his head gently upon hers, enjoying the romantic moment. Never had he imagined that he and Celene would actually have become a couple, but now as they both had spoken their love for each other it could not had been any better. Alistair was thankful to have met Celene and it was a pleasure to have her in Denerim, even her Empire had gone into chaos. She was safe with him, but he feared what could happen once he left north. She would be totally unprotected and open for assassination attempts; he did not want to hear bad news once he had left. Alistair knew that something had to be decided, some way to protect her, even he knew she was fully capable of protecting herself, especially after having survived years as Empress in Orlais. However with the Grand Duke now in power of Orlais as the new Emperor, things would be very dangerous, even for Ferelden. He had sent an emissary to Ferelden, asking them to give the Empress freely, but Alistair had refused and had upset the Orlesian. Something Alistair hoped he would not regret, hoping Orlais would not to got war because of it. Holding around Celene, Alistair feared for what would come, though he enjoyed the thought of being with woman he so strongly loved. He just hoped she would be alright and that his kingdom still stood once he returned.
With a happy and a worried sigh Alistair began to think of happy thoughts again, how it would be if he and Celene could be together forever. Together they could rule and bring peace to both Ferelden and Orlais, if they not they both choose a life as a commoner. He doubted Celene would do such a thing as he knew she loved the life as a royalty and he knew that Anora would be overjoyed if he refused to bear the crown, it was although something to think about. Kissing Celene`s forehead again with a soft and gently touch, he turned to look at her face and he could see her smiling and he smiled in return, glad to have her in his arms. Then he took her hand and slowly he guided her onward, toward a place to sit. Once he found a few stairs not far away, he sat down upon a step with her. Still holding her hands, he looked deeply into her beautiful blue eyes that showed her affection for him and in return he did the same, smiling brightly as he had never experienced such an enjoyable moment.
“Celene…” Alistair began speaking with a calm and low voice, almost whispering as he looked at her. “We will make this work, no matter what it takes…and when I return we will figure how to solve the situation, on how we can be together…but I am worried. I am worried that once I have left something bad will happen…” He spoke worried and his face expression changed, showing off how much she meant to him, while carefully rubbing her hand with the thumb against her skin, looking at it as he did so before turning his gaze back at her. “I need you to stay safe, and out of harm while I am gone…Anora may be jealous, but she is a good woman and if she understands how much your safety is worth, I am sure she will keep you safe…” He said and suggested ignorant, not knowing Anora`s secret plans, but instead believed Anora would be kind enough to assist Celene`s stay in Ferelden. After what had happened in the royal palace, Alistair had seen the good sides of Anora, at least he thought so as she had agreed to let him go north. He believed she had done it out of kindness and effection for him and Alistair believed that she deep down cared for him, even she rarely showed sign of it. If she cared, he knew Anora would help.

Everything stood on an edge, and soon that ledge would get so small that the world as it was known would fall to pieces. Chaos was eminent and there was nothing anyone could possibly do to stop it. Celene knew that these were the things she needed to be thinking of. She knew that despite being away from her beloved Orlais she needed to think on what would be best for her home country but the moment was too sweet to think of anything other than Alistair. Celene had ideas a plenty of how they could remain together, but none of them seemed right. She couldn’t give Orlais to the Grand Duke, and she couldn’t ask Alistair to give his throne to Anora. To make this right, they would need to unite their two countries in brotherhood, thus making them stronger and make them prosper further.
Alistair’s sigh caught her attention and she looked to him from the corner of her eye. Before she could ask him of the sigh his lips were upon her brow. The gesture was one she had always been fond of and she smiled happily. Her look was an easy one to read, the look of a love sick fool, but at this moment she didn’t want it any other way. Her only regret was not telling Alistair of her feelings sooner, maybe then they could have had a little more time. “Celene…We will make this work, no matter what it takes…and when I return we will figure how to solve the situation, on how we can be together…but I am worried. I am worried that once I have left something bad will happen…” Celene raised up to kiss his cheek, a soft smile on her face. She could tell how worried Alistair was but he needed to know that everything would be just fine. If he worried too much about her he wouldn’t be paying proper attention while he was away. ”Dear Alistair, I shall be fine. I can protect myself as long with those who are here to protect me. Nothing shall happen.”
Alistair was rubbing her hand gently before he spoke again, she knew that he loved her and this was why he was so concerned. “I need you to stay safe, and out of harm while I am gone…Anora may be jealous, but she is a good woman and if she understands how much your safety is worth, I am sure she will keep you safe…” Celene was glad she had a royal stare that didn’t betray her emotions. Anora would never protect her unless she had a gain from it, if Celene remained safe and in Ferelden then Anora had much to lose. Her dearest was such a trusting man and Celene didn’t have the heart to tell him the truth about the Queen. A smile crossed her lips as she nodded her head gently. ”I know I will be safe mon coeur. Please do not worry so much.”

"I know Celene; you will manage fine, as you always have." Alistair smiled faintly back at her as he continued to look into her eyes, feeling a bit more reassured that she would manage to stay safe while he was gone, even there had been many assassins whom as of late had tried to claim his and her life. His own life had been at stake the night before, when a group of assasins had managed to sneak their way into the Palace. Stupid as Alistair had been he had not wanted to put out more guards as he believed he who was a Gray Warden could perfectly protect himself, but that was far from the truth. Gladly Mariana had managed to save him from the assassination attempts and from that moment he had known that he owed both Anora and Teagan an apology for not having more guards at the palace. The assassins had come from Antiva and they were part of the Crows, but he did not know who had hired them, but believed it was the Orlesian Grand Duke who had tried, as Alistair had refused to give him Celene. Most likely Celene had heard about what had happened, as the people in Denerim were bad at keeping secrets. Knowing that he had almost died that night, made Alistair worried that Celene would not be able to protect herself, but he trusted her and if she said she could, then he believed her.
Holding her hand tighter with a careful squeeze, he smiled even more at her as he thought she was a brave and a skilled woman, one whom he loved dearly and whom loved him just as much. Again he leaned in to kiss her with soft lips, and the kiss was passionate and long, longer than those earlier. Once their lips parted, Alistair and Celene could see the sun was going down in the distance. What had seemed like minutes to them had been hours, the time they had spent down in streets of Denerim and their long walk up the tower had taken much of the time. Alistair knew that soon they would need to retire to their own beds, as he believed Anora would begin to question his presence again if he was gone too long. She was like an overprotective mother, one who seemed to both care and hate him, although deep down he thought she was a good woman and he hoped Celene would listen to the advice he had given her, in case she would need protection.
“I promise you, I will return for you…for us.” Alistair said as he his gaze remained on Celene, before he turned to look back at the view in front of them which was magical, seeing the sun disappearing behind the horizon. They both sat on the stairs and they remained close as they watched the sunset together, although once it was over, Alistair stood up and faced Celene, still holding her hand as he spoke calmly. “Come; let us go back…I believe the people will soon begin to wonder where we are if we stay much longer. Let me escort you back to your estate, milady…my love.” Alistair said and kissed Celene`s hand for the second time, looking at her with a teasing smile, not wanting to leave, but knew they had too.

"I know Celene; you will manage fine, as you always have." The faith Alistair had in her made her heart swell with pride. He knew that she would be fine, but as love would have it he would worry about her none the less. She in turn would worry while he was gone. It was going to be painful but she couldn’t possibly change that. Time would bring him safely back, and that was all that could be hoped for. She had brought trouble to Ferelden when she had come here. The duke had demanded her return, and Alistair had kept her safe. The Duke had even sent people to try and kill Alistair, but he had failed. It was almost pathetic how he kept trying and failing. One would think that the Duke would just give up. He gripped her hand a little tighter before kissing her. The kiss was longer and seemed more urgent and full of love than the ones before.
The sun was sinking below the horizon; it was hard to believe that they had been together for hours. It seemed like it had only been a few precious moments. The day was ending and the morning would bring Alistair’s departure. Celene wasn’t ready for this to end, but she knew that time wouldn’t turn back. “I promise you, I will return for you…for us.” She met his eyes as he spoke a smile on her lips. It was a promise that meant the world to her, and she would cherish the words until he returned. ”And I promise you that I shall be here waiting for you. I shall be true to you and remain here waiting for my love to return to me.” She rubbed her delicate fingers over his hand, savoring the moment they were currently sharing. It was getting late and she knew that they would soon need to return. She wished she could run away with Alistair at her side, but to do so she would need to abandon Orlais and that was something she knew was never going to be possible for her.
Together they watched the sunset, and Celene felt as if she was holding her breath. Alistair was the first to break the silence. “Come; let us go back…I believe the people will soon begin to wonder where we are if we stay much longer. Let me escort you back to your estate, milady…my love.” Gently he kissed her hand making Celene blush once more. She didn’t want to leave, but she stood anyway knowing that if they didn’t leave now people would find them together and be more upset than they already were. ”I greatly appreciate the escort milord, how did I get so lucky to have a love like you?” She kissed him tenderly, knowing that this may be the last one she would receive for a while and wanting the moment to remain a sweet one in her memory. She would miss him, but he had promised to return and she knew that the King of Ferelden would keep his word.

Looking upon Celene as she stood up and moved toward Alistair, he watched as she approached and spoke while they still held hands. ”I greatly appreciate the escort milord, how did I get so lucky to have a love like you?” The words made Alistair feel even happier and once she leaned in to kiss him again, a warm feeling filled his entire body with emotions running wild. It was a lovely moment and just as Celene wanted the moment to last so did Alistair. As they both stood close together, the sun was disappearing behind Alistair back in the horizon and the evening had arrived. "Oh it is I who is lucky, milady." Alistair replied as he stopped kissing for a short moment, only to lean in again to kiss her more, rubbing her back carefully as he pulled her closer toward him.
Then as the long and passionate kiss was finished, Alistair smirked and he kept her hand in his, before he took on his hood and began to lead Celene down the tower the same way they had come. None would know where they had been and none would know what they had shared that day, it would remain as little secret as of now, even many already had their strong suspicions on what was happening between them.
Going down Drakon`s Tower, Alistair and Celene managed to sneak passed the guard and as they stepped out the same door they had gone in, they again found themselves in the streets of Denerim. It was time for Alistair and Celene to retire to their homes and each their bed. Alistair did not like that the moment which they had shared was soon over, but he knew it had to be as he next morning would need to stay up early to get ready for the long travel north. Oh how he wished Celene could have come with him, but he knew that she could not, she had to stay in Ferelden where she was most safe and where she could try and get back her throne. When Alistair returned he hoped she would await him as she promised and he hoped he could help her get back to her people and rule the Empire of Orlais as the Empress she used to be.
Watching the road and Celene as they walked, he held her hand tightly and carefully, not wanting to let her go. It would be sad to leave her, though he could not wait to see her again. Then as they arrived the estate which had been given to Celene, they both stopped outside the door, pretending they were common lovers who were just simply standing outside a noble estate holding hands. "Well...I guess this is it, our ways part for today, but if you wish I would love to say goodbye before I leave tomorrow." Alistair spoke whispering as he looked at Celene`s blue eyes, hoping she would accept and meet him at the docks the next morning, but he also wanted to stay with her that night even he knew that was not possible, knowing how proper woman she was and how concerned Anora would be if he again spent the night at her place.

Celene found it amazing how happy Alistair looked when he was at her side. It was as if this was the sunshine in a dreary day for him. "Oh it is I who is lucky, milady." His kisses had her feeling faint, and dizzy in a pleasurable way. She was glad that he was holding her so closely or she feared that she would have fallen from a faint already. As the kiss ended the Empress sighed happily, using her free hand to pull up her hood as Alistair did. She would be able to hide without it but it was better than they were both as inconspicuous as possible.
They went back the way they had come, sneaking past a guard and out the same door that had enterd them into a little place of their own. Now they were back in the streets. They needed to return to their rooms. It was a shame that time had gone by so quickly and now for a while their time spend together would only be a beautiful memory that they would share. Celene wished she could remain by his side, but she needed to stay here. Orlais had to be watched even if It was done from afar. There was nothing she could do but hope that those loyal to her would find her and pledge their allegiance. The Duke needed to be taken down and with time she planned on doing just that.
A smile corrsed her lips as Alistair held her and guided her though the streets. She felt so safe and loved. It was as if she couldn’t possibly be harmed while she remained in his arms. Alistair stopped at the estate that he had given her as her quarters while she remained in Ferelden. It was a lovely place, and she had added tiny touches that made it feel more like home. Ferelden was nothing like Orlais when it came to decorating, but Celene had seen the rustic beauty in their buildings. Instead of making the place look completely orlesian she had merely added little bits to make those of both countries in her home feel comfortable. "Well...I guess this is it, our ways part for today, but if you wish I would love to say goodbye before I leave tomorrow." Her blue eyes widened wondering if such a thing would be possible.
”How would it work? Anora will be there no? Won’t she be angry with you if I am seen there? I would love to come and see you off, but would it truly be possible?” Celene wanted nothing more than to throw herself in his arms before he left, but it wouldn’t be possible. She would need to say her goodbyes now, so that they could kiss and embrace as they should. Anora would be irate to see her at the docks, the Queen knew a little more than she let on, but Celene saw through her façade.

What Celene spoke were true, Anora would not be pleased if Celene came at the docks to say goodbye to the King of Ferelden, and the people would probably not like it either, especially after having heard rumors about Alistair and Celene`s secret affairs. It was tough for Alistair, because he wanted to spend more time with the woman he loved, but knew he could not. Looking upon Celene who was both beautiful and intelligent, Alistair smiled as he held her hands but the smile was slowly fainting as he grew sad by the thought of not seeing her for a very long time. He hoped that things would be well while he was gone and that she would stay unharmed, even the risk was very high that something would happen. Hopefully Anora and Teyrn Landon would protect Celene, mostly in case if she could not protect herself, although Alistair had faith in the woman he loved and as Celene had survived for many years in Orlais as the Empress, he was sure she could handle any treat that would appear.
“You are right; she would not approve it…nor would any other, even I want you there, but I know our farewell must be done here, tonight.” Alistair spoke with a whispering and a calm voice as his gaze was fixed upon Celene, with a smile returning on his face. Saying farewell was not something he wanted to do, but if he was going to do it, he would make sure the last moment between them by kissing her passionate and long would be a good one. Pulling her closer as they stood near the house making out once again, Alistair tried to make sure she would forever remember the kiss until the day he returned, hoping she had appreciated his accompany that day as much he had appreciated hers. Then once the kiss was over, Alistair kept his gaze on her while he held her close, a little troubled while he whispered. “Well I believe it is time for me to leave…” Alistair said and then slowly he took out the kerchief which she had given him, and he held it with a slight grip close to his face, smelling her perfume from it. “I will treasure this and I will keep it close to my heart at all time, farewell my love…my thoughts will be with you, always.” He said and kissed her one last time, ending the kiss with a smile as Alistair turned to leave. It was sad to leave the woman he loved, but Alistair knew that they would one day meet again and he would make sure she would be safe while he was gone, even she had told him she would manage to take care of herself, he just did not want to take any risk. With Alistair`s gaze fixed upon Celene as he walked away from her, and as their hands parted he smiled brightly one more time, thinking on how much he loved her and then he left around the corner….
